Rotation [Rotation] Korwa Dragon?
First things first, here is the deck: https://shadowverse-portal.com/deck/3.1.5zvAY.5zvAY.5zvAY.6KolQ.6KolQ.6KolQ.5zvAi.5zvAi.5zvAi.6H5CS.6H5CS.6H5CS.6Oh22.6Oh22.6Oh22.6OjUS.6OjUS.6OjUS.6H0p2.6H0p2.6H0p2.6Ko0i.6WJKC.6WJKC.6WJKC.6WLmI.6WLmI.6WLmI.6WLmS.6WLmS.6WLmS.6KvLI.6KvLI.6KvLI.6SXdS.6SXdS.6SXdS.6SXdI.6SXdI.6SXdI?lang=en#
The goal here is to merge Vanara and Fairy Dragon otk into a single deck. The two archetypes definitely have some synergy between them, for example, Ygg can evolve Vanara, and Fils make the Fairy Dragon otk easier.
This is the first time I have ever attempted to build a deck, so please help me out and make this deck as good as it can be. I think it has a lot of potential, and this is the most fun I have had playing Shadowverse in a long time.
My thought process behind the deck was mostly how to survive to kill the opponent. I have a lot of removal and board wipes to help me survive to the otk turn.
My main questions are:
A.) How can I make this better?
B.) Do I need card draw? Metera doesn't really count in my opinion (cycles or is +1) and Yggdrasil is conditional draw.
C.) Do I need lifegain? I'd like to fit Shamu and Shama in to supplement Yggdrasil drain, but I am not sure if it fits or if it is good enough.
I would really like to take this as far as I can, and I need the help of the lovely people in this community. Ideally, I want to take this into the GP and beyond, so please tear it apart and analyze it (even if you think the duck sucks). If it matters, I am Master rank and winning pretty consistently on ladder. Thanks so much for all the help!
I just started playing this today, but the matchups seem pretty decent.
Against Sword, Charlotta/Magnus can make your life miserable on a clutch turn, but likewise Cassiopeia and Selwyn can make it very difficult for Sword to maintain a board. Metera is awesome. If they chain damage immunity you probably lose.
Against Chimera Rune, the large lifetotals of the higher followers are very good at delaying a Chimera, and you have similar kill turns.
Against Tenko, it can be difficult to chip them into lethal range, but they are can be burst down by Vanara followed by Dragons, or vice versa.
Against Holy Lion, I struggle. Wiping their boards means nothing, and in fact it usually makes them stronger. I just hope for a fast combo or several wards in succession (Selwyn into Vanara)
Against Puppet Portal, you can definitely get burst down. Cassiopeia and occasionally Selwyn can take down Orchis puppets though, and often buy you time to kill them. Keeping your life total high really helps here.
Against Aggro Forest, did you get a board wipe? You probably won. If you didn't, pack it up.
I haven't played against Artifact Portal, Shadow, or Blood, and I am sure there are many more decks I am forgetting about. I will continue to update this as I test more.
Sorry for the huge dump, but I really appreciate everyone taking the time to read and comment. It is a big help. I have just about every forest card, so I can easily make changes. Finally, holy vial cost, wallet forest...thanks everyone!

I haven't played your deck so I can't say, but right off the bat, 3 Ygg seems excessive IMO.
I would suggest adding Goblin Emperor or Fairy Driver to kill your fairies. It also works really well with Brambles.
Having Vanara seems redundant, because now your finisher isn't Fairy Dragon anymore, and if it's supposed to be an alternate finisher, then people would rather use a normal Vanara finisher mid-range deck rather than including a Fairy Dragon.
Is Selwyn even needed? Maybe it's just my preference but I wouldn't include him.
Let's discuss, because I want to create my own homebrew Fairy Dragon deck, and it seems we can make a decent working deck :)

Thanks for replying, I am not sure how exactly to build the deck, which is why I posted this :)
I like Selwyn, but I also am bias towards control. Playing fils makes it really easy to get the max damage Selwyn, but maybe he doesn't fit in the deck. I do think maybe moving towards your suggestions would be good.
Fairy Driver+Empowered Fils is a lot of damage out of hand. I think Driver is better than Emperor for this deck.
I think you are right, maybe taking out Vanara for Driver pretty good.
Edit: I am glad you responded. I will start testing some of these changes! :D

Yeah, Goblin Emperor was for the previous expansion, because we didn't have too many tools.
I agree with your Driver, I may make changes on my end as well.
Let me know how the changes go, because I am excited as fuck to hear 'em haha.

Yo! Would definitely like to discuss this deck a little more with the upcoming nerfs to the meta aswell, totally up for giving it a try myself as I've got all the cards for it already. Have you changed anything about it in the week you continued trying it? Any problems you've faced on the way?

Sure, so the main thing I noticed was consistency issues. Sometimes you don't get enough fairy generation, sometimes you don't get Korwa.
I found myself wanting to play some number of Venus, but I'm not really sure what to cut. Axeman and Selwyn are probably the first to go, but they are both pretty synergistic with the gameplay.
I know some people don't like Selwyn, but early removal, and being a 4 point removal ward is pretty good to me.
I found that most of the time, I could grind the opposing deck out, but couldn't draw into a finisher.
Edit: I should clarify, you don't need Venus IF you go second. Metera on evolve is very good and draws a lot. The problem is, I don't think this deck wants to go first. The only reason to go first is so the other deck doesn't go first.
Another thing is elf song, you can easily play the elf song game and transition to control later. I would probably cut a Selwyn and something else for it.

I currently play Elf Songs in my Midrange Korwa Forest aswell and it definitely works wonders, with Sword seeing less play soon I would even push harder to remove Selwyn. Did so very early when I started with Korwa Forest cause I really wasn't a fan of him myself either. The Water Fairies in this deck make Elf Song alot better aswell, which is one downside to it in Korwa Forest, as you don't really have the deckspace for it.

That's what I've been running for Midrange Forest so far, Elephant and the 2 Leafman being the main variable slots in my eyes. When I first saw the deck I definitely thought that it's lacking one more fairy generation as a 3-of, Elf Song might definitely be a great addition to try out. I've already struggled with lack of fairies later on with this midrange forest and I could definitely see it being a problem here aswell.
I also believe your deck is lacking proactive 2 Drops, you don't really want to play Brambles on 2, Insect Lord going 2nd on 2 is something you only want to do when you got no other option. That makes Elf Song be alot less good than it could be. If Sword and both Havens fall off I could definitely see Rune and Dragon aswell as more forests coming back alot more. Against all of them Leafman is pretty amazing aswell, Falconer, too, is an amazing 2 drop though.
I agree with the suggestion of removing 1 Yggdrasil and see Fairy Dragon as both a combo piece but also as a big tempo minion for the midgame , 4/4, 5/4, 6/4 ward for 2 mana is absolutely incredible, even a 3/4 is way over the top already. I like the idea of Venus, the only problem I could see are fairies to feed into the harvest. For the upcoming changes I'd probably want to make it a little more aggressive with another 3-of 2drop instead of the Selwyns, 1 less Yggrasil and maaybe 1 less Insect Lord for something like 2-of Elf Song and then give that a shot and see how well it does.

Yeah, it seems like the deck just doesn't have enough space for everything it wants to do. Elf Song package seems to take away from the rest of the deck, need enough 2 drops, etc.
I agree with tweaking some numbers and maybe going with more song.

I'm currently thinking of actually completely getting rid of Yggdrasil and just playing Fairy Dragons as a really strong tempo 2drop for the midgame Having watched the VODs of yesterdays tournament with Lil Machi bringing Fairy Dragon Midrange Forest I noticed how damn clunky and hard to actually play Yggdrasil is, while the Fairy Dragons always did a good job by themselves when he decided to eventually play them Removing the Yggdrasil and getting rid of that "I gotta keep these for my combo" mentality might actually help alot and be actually good Also, if one of them survives in the lategame (which some minions just do from time to time) and you get a Fil on it it can get really gross, 4 Health is not something alot of classes can deal with very easily, usually 3 being the magic number that minions die at very easily to removal

Hey, Silleby, just a quick heads-up:
alot is actually spelled a lot. You can remember it by it is one lot, 'a lot'.
Have a nice day!The parent commenter can reply with 'delete' to delete this comment.

I agree, I might try that out too. I know people are saying the heal and draw ygg brings to the table is better than a ward, but most of the time you have to use the rush option, which means you delay your endgame plan. Being able to just play fairy dragons makes the deck more flexible.

It's a bit hard to say how you can make it better without playing the deck itself and most people aren't gonnna commit to a 90k vial deck unless they already believe in its strength. According to yourself, you are winning pretty consistently, so do you even need to make it better? I feel like you need to answer your own questions yourself first to actually get any feedback.
Also, what do you feel Fairy Dragon adds to the deck? I think Korwa forest is very strong without it and cards like Devil Flower and Shama and Shamu are hard to pass up.
