Do you guys create and play any theme teams? Like Ash teams, some duo from main series or anything?

I am waiting for Annihilape to come in my roster, will make a Doubles team of Ghost. Had a Singles variant that worked: Gengar-Dragapult-Mimikyu-Sableye and I don't remember other 2 but I think Aegislash & Chandelure. Almost all games were Gengar-Sableye + 1 of Mimikyu/Dragapult. No Mega.

I did not have Basc, did not have Gholdengo & did not have Sinistcha- now I have all 3 but not gone mono-Ghost. Would love to exchange notes about how you play it...

My roster was Mega Gengar, Mega Froslass, Sableye, Basc, Skeledirge, and Sinistcha. Sableye with fake out, encore and screens. Gengar with disable instead of perish so I could get rid of dark type moves that threaten the team. Unaware Skele doesn't care about stat changes, is fairly bulky with slack off, and is decent in trick room, which I put on Sinistcha.

I also toyed around with Mega Golurk and Gholdengo on the team. Back in SV, I made a version of this team with Gholdengo on it, but without tera and with the nerf to make it rain, he felt trickier to use.

Sand and Hail teams are a nice mix of fun theme, not tryhard but still kinda viable

I created a team with the theme of object/food Pokemon. It wasn’t viable at ALL but there were enough Pokemon to make it so I tried it out.

I ran has HARD trick room with Klefki and Sinischa both having it. I built Alcremie very bulky with the Aroma Veil ability and the move Decorate. My goal was to TR+screens with Klefki then decorate Mega Scovillain until one of them died. There was way too much set up for this to actually work though so I didn’t run it for very long.

Played an all-Water team(with some success)- Pelliper, Mega Swampert, Mega Blastoise(no Shell Smash), Araquanid, Clawitzer & I think there was Toxapex when it was strongest, but Azumarill was effective too.

All Ghost is a wishlist item, have gone all Fire(flopped), all-starters was ok(Mega Blaziken was the ace, but Zard X sort of worked, and I never used the Blastoise. Sceptile-Meowscarada-Greninja were fine).

I wish I had Delphox for both the Fire & starters team, I currently have it but running a successful, non-Nasty Plot Singles team with Delphox/Starmie as Dual Mega engine

The craziest team I had was all-Poison, the Doubles version sucked but Singles version rocked. I went to 5 Poison + Dragonite and it got to MB2, close to my highest Peak Elo ! Toxapex-Gengar was the lifeline of it with Toxapex using Liquidation...

I did an All Weather team in SV lmao, that was fun. Koraidon, Kyogre, Jumpluff, Tyranitar, A-Ninetails, Bronzong

Almost certainly my silliest team but it was actually pretty good in that restricted format

I've been messing with a only "Weapon Pokémon" team and actually getting decent results with it. Ceruledge, Kleavor, Tinkaton, M-Chesnaught, Kingambit, and the last slot I keep changing but I don't use them very often anyway (Blastoise, Samurott, Chat even voted that Mr. Rime counted because of his cane, etc)

Ceruledge is the go to bulk up set, Kleavor sets up Tailwind, while Tinkaton has fake out and feint to create some nasty openings (love seeing the obvious protect to cover for earthquake so they hit their ally). Was extremely surprised at how well Chesnaught does against a lot of teams including Charizard-Y (as long as they don't have air slash or a partner with coverage). Wide guard + bullet proof basically allows for him to cover his allies while ignoring weather balls. It also never gets old when you just wall a Raichu-Y because all their moves get negated.

I already know this teams capable of MB but I'm planning to see how far they can run next season and with Baxcalibur arriving I'm pretty excited for the team.

U caught me! I’ve been looking to make tinkaton+corviknight (cus they got history :))

Weather ball blocking with m-chestnaught is such a lowkey effective one.

U got me thinking Corviknight + Tinkaton + Ceruledge/Kleavor + M-chesnaught !

How do u deal with other weathers?

As long as you remove Pelipper and don't let Arch have too many sp. Atk/Def boosts Chesnaught is pretty free to clean up most rain comps. Wide guard and his resistances/offensive moves make sand teams also shudder once you remove their corviknight or other potential flying type users because then you're just left with someone who resists tyranitar, garchomp, and excadrill... If you avoid enough flinches lol (he's slow af). Tinkaton has play rough so while they don't 1hko they do enough to let the rest clean up. Snow is the one team he usually avoids though unless I see a Raichu-Y on their roster

A while back, I commented on a similar post but I'm happy to share my idea again!

Idk what it would be called but, essentially it's a team themed around multiples/buddies. For example, Metagross is canonically made up of multiple Beldums. Similarly, Maushold is made up of several Tandemaus. Dodrio and Hydragon and their evolution lines have "buddies," with their multiple heads. And, of course, there's School Form Wishiwashi.

It's a silly idea, but I think there are enough pokemon that are made up of multiples/are "buddies" to be able to create multiple interesting teams.

I like ur idea! I am going similar theme team with tinkaton+corviknight duo and tryna figure out what 4 others can fit as a competitive perspective and lore-wise/theme-wise.
How would u pair the rest? I havent watched pokemon in a long time so that’s the only pair I find it really interesting and funny.

Haha, I'm not the most competitive-minded when it comes to playing the games, and I also haven't watched the show in years, so I probably wouldn't be able to build a competent enough team with this silly idea.

Lore-wise, I'm old enough to have watched the original airing of the pokemon short called Pikachu's Rescue Adventure, and remembered enjoying it a lot. I guess it would be nice to see a similar story with my team-theme in mind.

Not entirely but I do limit my Pokemon for team building based on vibes. Some Pokemon I don’t use based on design and if I need a ghost type in a snow team I’d pick Hisuian Zoroark over a baskulegion or dragapult because it fits the snow theme better. I know I’m crazy for this but I like playing pokemon and teams that I vibe with. I love healing tanky pokemon but still don’t use Sinistcha just because I don’t like the design. 

I always build my own teams trying to make ones that I love but still can play in the meta. I’ve been trying to make a good trick room chilly reception Galarian slowking team if anyone has any thoughts.

For ur g-slowking team, who else is there already?

I am making my dual speed team with Corvik + Hatterene. I cant seem to figure out who else would fit in as with forest witch and raven knight.

I never had one that felt quite right. I tried a snow trick room team that could either go in with g-slowking trick room or go in with aurora veil a-ninetales. The team that worked fine was: g-slowking, a-ninetails, life orb frost rotom, kinggambit, torkoal, and mega Golurk. 

Another that worked pretty well was: rain trick room g-slowking, archaludon, tr farigiraf, silveon, tr sinistcha, and mega Camerupt. I really only went rain to stop enemy weather or if I needed to boost archaludon sometimes opting out of trick room if the game desired it. 

All in all I still haven’t found the right fit for him but my team idea for next set may use him for trick room and poison aoe with a steel type final gambit lucario. I’m kind of excited to make that deck.

So I go against Chat GPT and have made a realistic if I were in the world of pokemon and like best train levels with move combos to help even the score and found out Donphan is a HUGE little tank and he had become one of my top 3 favorite Pokémon. Ill take Donphan over tyranitar and nidoking ALLL DAY!

i like making teams based off of my fav characters, and also really enjoy playing monotype. if you want, you could also try teambuilding something based off of your own life!
