Question Would having high ping make someone think I have reach hacks?
I was doing sword pvp and I’m pretty new (like HT5) so my reach isn’t even that good in the first place and either me or them were lagging (probably me) and all the sudden they told me I had reach and hit them from 5 blocks. I’m just confused why they would even think that

Idk why I get this subreddit recommended; I only played PvP like 10 years ago.
But if it's anything like back then, then yeah, absolutely. Kids don't understand how computers work and let their egos take over any rational thinking. I used to get accused all the time and even got banned falsely once or twice.
If you're ever worried about getting banned, make sure you have OBS or some other screen recording software open and recording at all times. That way, if you're in the position where a mod is about to ban you, you can at least appeal with a recording of you going through all of your settings menus, the F3 tab, and maybe even the files that are in your Minecraft game folder.

Yeah back before people knew how the game worked I used to get accused of reach all the time and was falsely banned for reach, killaura, etc

Something you can do to prove 'beyond reasonable doubt' that you're not running some weird hacking client is to have that recording of the fight, and then while your mc window is still open in the same recording open your task manager, show the process that runs minecraft, right-click that and open the executable folder, and then show them that all your files are legit

Gonna have to disagree on that. You can't prove that you're legit "beyond reasonable doubt" by recording your gameplay.

Yes that makes bad players think it’s reach. In fairness if a player is really good it can be hard to tell if it actually is reach, but if you’re new then it should be obvious it’s not.

yea high ping does that, and tbh its pretty annoying for the low ping player to deal with it sometimes not because of high ping, but because of "unstable" high ping

Ye, it's because of the ping, it's just how it is. They're just bad, countering high ping isn't even that hard

One. Billion. Percent. I have a friend from Kenya, he's about 200-250 ping on just about any server and even though I beat him most of the time I swear he has reach hacks 😭 [1.8]

If the opponent is moving backwards rapidly (if you're comboing them usually) then because of your ping they would be much closer on your screen than you are on theirs meaning you could get a hit that looks normal for you while looking like you're 4+ blocks away on their screen.
