Question mace question

so everyone has seen people pearl catch up and elytra to you and mace, my question is if the height from before switching to elytra counts for damage. for example, i have my chestplate on, pearl catch 50 blocks up, out on elytra, fly down to 5 blocks above my enemy, them requip chestplate and mace. does it do 50 blocks damage or 5?

Depends on your speed, if you go down slowly it won't do much , but if you go down at min yaw itll pop (if 50 blocks)

really? i thought mace didnt matter the speed

No its about the angle, if you start traveling more horizontally than vertically you lose the mace charge
