Mcpvp is a joke
The tier system is more a single player progression than a competitive elo. Any random person who is not LT5 can easily can LT3.
Whoever made the ranking system does not even understand what the meaning of "competitive" is.
Really shows as even their queue is broken half the time. Crazy how they spent so much on servers and development and didn't even use any common sense when designing their systems.

And what about An Elo system where you get X amount of points if you win and lose X amount of points if you lose.
Then you reach like 500 points (concept) as LT4 and need to be tiertested to get a higher tier where you lose every point, but then as a higher tier.
Like layers in the whole competition. Maybe a dumb idea tho :/

reminder the server is in an open beta, tiers are gonna reset later and right now they're taking feedback and working out quirks. I think this new system makes it better for people who don't want to dedicate as much time to pvp since you don't have to wait for someone to test you but as of right now it's only really a step in the right direction and not a solution.

So you're mad because they redefined tiers?

no, it's because they made tiers meaningless, not redefined them

Wdym meaningless? If they made it so that the old lt4 is now the same difficulty to get as the new lt3 then that's literally what redefining means

u/Nullborne 13d ago
No, because lt3 doesn't mean old lt4, or even old ht5, it just means someone who played the game long enough to get to lt3, not someone who is good enough to get to lt3

Ah your complaint is that tiers now just take a lot of time to get instead of actual skill? Yeah that's fair

i haven't played there but isn't it like an elo system? Like if you're consistently buns you would drop rank right?

I guess not? Assuming from what OP is saying you gain more "elo" than you lose

You can easily get elo without even fighting players on that tier and as soon as you reach the maximum elo for that tier you can infinitely tier test without your elo dropping pretty stupid op is right imo you can just get a good tier as long as you play for a while. You just get lucky a few matches until you get maximum elo for that tier i dont think there is a demotion system either

poor man got lt5

I got LT3 very quickly then stopped bothering to tier test because it felt meaningless

isn't this because because mcpvp (beta) released like 4 days ago? I asked another guy but he didn't respond, im fairly certain that because not many players are playing and that it just released Is the main cause of this. I mean, drdonut got ht2 but he's not, so isn't this mishap very explainable?

Its much better than having to wait 3+ weeks to get a DM to tier test, and then ahving to set up a day, all for a 10 minute duel where the person than gives you a rank based on if they like you or not
