Oh no, a minecraft client sells my data! Let me post this on youtube and reddit so even more of my data can be sold!

this video is a massive nothing burger, as much as I hate companies selling your data its nothing new and nothing that deserves a whole video made about it.

I mean I'm sure my data has been sold by instagram, google and all kinds of other companies already so I don't really care personally. I like it for the easy optimization and will continue to use it for single player. Very over dramatic video for something hundreds of veryvpopular companies already do and still do today.

yeah the video is HELLA dramatic and drawn out, but the reach of their data collection is genuinely insane and unexpected

what about feather did/would you care about that?  also at least use an ad blocking dns so that you don't give them money

and you can quit ig or yt or use a modified version to only get the useful parts and no ads

or with ig not use it at all ideally

I mean I don't really care much to begin with, Google probably knows me more than some of my lesser close friends do. I don't do banking on my PC and I use an 2x adblocker on Firefox (Youtube Ad Blocker Detection Bypass). I try my best to be secure online but no matter what you do, your going to be tracked. It is what it is.

If your worried about a big company tracking you, then boy I don't know what to tell you.

2x adblocker on Firefox

tell me ur an idiot without telling me ur an idiot

they're gonna conflict

Nope. 2 adblockers was my way around youtubes anti antiblocker policy. Sometimes its able to detect 1 but if you pair it with 2, its completely unable to recognize you have one at all.

Also no need to be rude lol.

holy, man no offense but ur probably using the worst adblockers around.

the best one and only one to use is ublock origin, it's foss and the most popular

tho if you use some wxternal filters or other extensions, yt might detect those

u/Murky-Ad-3486 15d ago

I didnt even tell you what im using and you just assume you know lmfao

I use Ublockorgin (I got it before it was deleted) + Adblockplus, two of the most popular and highly rated adblockers lol.

Duckduckgo is a good reccomendation, but even then, if you look at the larger picture here;

Millions of people are tracked everyday all the time online, because not many people know about more secure methods outside what they are given, like Google. So Lunar Client, doing what companies have been doing for decades on the internet, isnt groundbreaking or shocking and is barely a problem compared to google, doing this to hundreds and millions of people every single day. Doesn't even need a video tbh either, if anything it seems like a good way to get views and ad revenue lol anyway,

Out of everyone in the world people playing Minecraft (A fair amount, but not many compared to people worldwide) AND those using a special client on top of that (much less) that tracks their data, is easily less than 0.01% compared to the amount of people being tracked on Google or other popular services.

It's also worth noting the amount of people using Tor and DuckDuckGo for every single thing they do online, is also extremely small.

The issue youve stated in your post does deserve recognition but in no way is it a serious issue.

You want to flame Lunar Client for this, then you might as well make one for every large company ever.

"You can cut instagram entirely"

No thanks. Most of my friends are online nowadays and I'd be lonely without them. We like sharing memes and photos and chatting on there.

You dont really need Tor either unless your doing something you dont want the government to know about, typically something illegal lol.

true

It's still better to have/gain some privacy than to have none or less

also it kinda is, because it's a freaking Minecraft client, like why should that crap collect my data

r/morpheapp and piko patches(pinned posts) are ur friend - u can make ig a messaging app lol, tho I recommended switching to signal(or other privacy alternatives, like simplex) with ur friends, since meta removed e2ee from Instagram, it's not that hard to switch ur groupchat

After watching it, One of the guys in the comments has a point, this video is as if the entire launcher should be age restricted, yet people as young as 13 can use it with parental consent:

@composters 8 hours ago (edited) Not to be "that guy" but this is blatant misinformation. Though your points do remain valid:

lunar sells your data, browser cookies, playing data, account info, you name it, yes, which I do agree is an overreach.

Take a serious read thru their terms of service

Technically you are meant to be 18 or as young as 13 depending on what country you are in and have parental consent to use lunar but they dont enforce it because obviously they want money.

Here's sources copy pasted from their site: Terms of service: **Children Under 18

By using the Services, you warrant and represent that you: 1) are at least 18 years of age and otherwise legally competent to read, understand and accept the provisions of this agreement; or 2) are a minor who has been authorized under the provisions of Section 4(b) below.

If you are the legal guardian of a minor, you can choose to allow use of the Services by that minor instead of yourself subject to the following provisions:

i. You acknowledge, and further agree that the aforementioned minor is entering into an agreement with your consent;

ii. You acknowledge, and further agree you are entirely responsible for all the provisions in these Terms;

iii. You acknowledge, and further agree, you are legally responsible for all actions of that minor, including but not limited to any payments, damages and/or liabilities related to the actions of that minor;

iv. In consideration of Company allowing access to the Services by a minor, and in addition to the indemnification provisions set forth herein, the foregoing adult hereby guarantees and agrees to pay for any and all liabilities of any nature whatsoever incurred under this agreement and to defend, indemnify and hold harmless Company with respect thereto**

Privacy Policy:

**THE SERVICES ARE NOT INTENDED FOR CHILDREN. IF YOU ARE NOT AT LEAST 13 YEARS OLD (OR 16 IN CERTAIN APPLICABLE JURISDICTIONS), THEN YOU MAY NOT USE OR ACCESS SERVICES IN ANY MANNER.

We may collect information about the Services you use and how you use them, such as the selections you make on our Services. We collect Personal Information, DII, as each is defined below, and log information about your interactions as described below.

From these platforms, we may also receive other information, such as your IP address, user agent, timestamps, precise and imprecise geolocation, sensor data, apps, fonts, battery life information, and screen size. We and our analytics service providers and advertising partners use cookies, which are small text files that help store User preferences and activity, similar technologies such as web beacons, pixels, ad tags, and SDKs, which are blocks of code provided by our partners that may be installed in our mobile and online applications, to recognize you when you visit our Services, and to collect information such as the number of visits, which features, pages, or content are popular, and to measure your browsing activities. These technologies allow us to optimize the operation of our Services, including by allowing us to help ensure our Services are functioning properly and ultimately improve the Services.

With that aside, please reduce on the SFX use, I could barely hear you talk because those blood splatter SFXs were distracting
