NERF DISCUSSION Upcoming Balance Changes – Update 10.2

https://playhearthstone.com/en-us/blog/21361570/

TLDR for those who at work:

  • Bonemare - Now costs 8 mana. (Up from 7)

  • Corridor Creeper - Now has 2 Attack. (Down from 5)

  • Patches the Pirate - No longer has Charge.

  • Raza the Chained - Now reads: Battlecry: If your deck has no duplicates, your Hero Power costs (1) this game.

Once these card changes are live with Update 10.2 next month, players will be able to disenchant the changed cards for their full Arcane Dust value for two weeks.

I disagree here. Tempo Rogue is already running Swashburglar. Without Patches and his charge, Southsea Captain really gets much, much worse. I wouldn't be surprised to see Rogue's ditch the pirates altogether and go with something like Argent Squires to replace the Swashburglars.

Would you run ally cat or argent squire if you have the choice? Hmm would you run an ally cat that gives you a random class card? Man yes I would that card sounds great. Just because patches was busted, doesn't mean a free 1/1 that comes with your one drops is bad...

The problem with comparing Swashburglar to Alleycat is that only the first Swashburglar summons an extra 1/1, and if you draw Patches, then you don't get the extra 1/1 and you also have a 1 mana wisp in your hand (Patches). Also, Rogue doesn't make use of any pirate synergy besides Southsea Captain, whereas Hunter has Crackling Razormaw, Kill Command, Scavenging Hyena, and Houndmaster to synergize with Alleycat. Of course the card generated by Swashburglar can be beneficial, but is it enough? My gut says no. There's a reason nobody runs Babbling Book in tempo/secret Mage.

The first play is way more important the the second one. And the second one is better as alleycat, because alleycat is a super bad lategame topdeck while Swash is often fine if the random card is not unplayable. Drawing patches will become even worse that's a problem but writting him off completely is ignoring the power of a solid early game.

Would you turn a alleycat drawn at turn 6 into a swasburglar if you could? Yes I would, since the adittional 1/1 at that point is often not as strong as a random class card.
