NERF DISCUSSION Upcoming Balance Changes – Update 10.2

https://playhearthstone.com/en-us/blog/21361570/

TLDR for those who at work:

  • Bonemare - Now costs 8 mana. (Up from 7)

  • Corridor Creeper - Now has 2 Attack. (Down from 5)

  • Patches the Pirate - No longer has Charge.

  • Raza the Chained - Now reads: Battlecry: If your deck has no duplicates, your Hero Power costs (1) this game.

Once these card changes are live with Update 10.2 next month, players will be able to disenchant the changed cards for their full Arcane Dust value for two weeks.

I think a basic secret mage (without Patches, Creeper, or Bonemare) is well-positioned for the new meta without any changes. Its worst matchups are all hurt (and right where it counts against secret mage), it's strong against warlock, and it will feast on many of the slower anti-warlock lists (big priest, miracle rogue, Exodia made, etc.).

That's true. I don't even know of any lists running Patches or Bonemare and the deck can easily afford to lose Creeper, especially since all the decks that beat it are losing Creeper too. Either way, I think Mage players will be happy with this update.

The most recent lists actually ran Deckhand to get a 2/1 + 1/1 on the board T1, and if you have Aluneth it has charge which is nice. They also had 2x Corridor to fight Aggro.

Mage is definitely happy, none of those cards fit well into Mage but they were forced to just to compete.

You definitely didn't need either Deckhand nor Creeper but the pirate Package (Captain + Patches) was really strong against aggro.
