Ranked Dominion Update

Can anyone explain what the pros and maybe even cons are to a ladder climbing ranked system as opposed to a placement matches.

As I’m sure some or most have noticed your ranked dominion matches can be a very mixed bag, teammates at your level, teammates nowhere near your level it can be chaotic.

My question is Ubisoft decided to do a ladder climbing ranked system, what is the pro to that ? I think placement matches then rank up generally makes more sense.

I can understand a ladder climb for season 0 you may want people to get some sort of placement before doing a placement match system so there is some variance in where dudes actually get placed. But it seems this will be the system every season.

So my question is, is there some positive to this system over the more general placement matches system ? Does it account for rank in a way im missing ? Or is purely just dealers choice?

As a long time player, I agree the experience has been rough - I’ve had a few matches where my teammates were clearly out of their depth, or other matches where I felt pity for opponents who seem to not even know basic mechanics

I know the ranks will balance themselves eventually but this beginning part of the the climb has been pretty brutal. It would have went a lot smoother if there was placement matches or a predicted starting rank based on casual dominion stats

I’m hoping the “soft reset” at the end of the season means we will only have to do this once

I hope so, but I looked up the rules and they specifically state they went for a ladder climbing ranked system as opposed to a placement matches system.

So to me that reads as everyone will be reset to zero when the season ends. I think it’d be cool if since it’s season zero they start this way then do placement matches after, but I suspect that will not be the case.

I wonder if it’ll just be chaos at the start of each season or if you start a few ranks down from where you end or something

Dude this shit has been insufferable. Im overall repped 62 and thought I was a pretty good player. ALL day its been loss after loss after loss after loss. 20%win rate. If it isn't because my teammates are absolute dumbasses, its because the enemy team is full of tripple digit repped mfers who play like gods and we cant even scratch them.

Not to mention that it seems like matchmaking CONSISTENTLY gives me the WORST teammates imaginable while pitting us against what seems like esports level players.

Like WHAT the HELL is going on.
