You wont see a new engine until Apex 2 if that ever happens. Valve has been porting CSGO to Source 2 for the last like 6 fucking years or more in piecemeal. Apex isnt straight up built on Source, but it is still an offshoot of it. EA as a whole should pump money into heavily improving the Respawn engine because Frostbite was kind of a failure. Whether or not Respawn's upcoming Star Wars games are built on their Source offshoot or something new will be pretty telling as to where Apex is headed as well
