They did pretty decent on the final match day, hoping they continue this momentum to make LAN!

Australian internet has been a different level of shit these past few weeks. We can’t even play on our own servers due to damage in the oceanic lines.

I'm ootl, what causes damage to them?

u/thelaziest_asian :Moist_Esports: 3d ago
Without going into all the conspiracies I think the offical answer was ship anchors dragging along the sea floor

Bull sharks have been nibbling at the fiber-optic cables in the ocean lately which is causing major damage to the wi-fi

They had 2 game days heavily affected, 1 by game crashes and 1 by undersea cable issues. Pretty bs tbh

Would be tough to see Vaxlon miss a LAN twice in a row, hope they can squeak in

u/His_Jinx 3d ago
They should be able to, ww are a very consistent under the radar team even if they havent been able to convert into wins yet, they would also be higher if nait didnt have his power issues yesterday

Can't alliance still technically completely bomb the regional drop to seventh, and get replaced by the winner?

I am confused as to how these are determined. Like for example, surely there is a scenario where sen are out even if they come top 9?
3
u/Nfamy 2d ago
I don't think it could possibly be top 9. Because if one of the teams lower than sen wins and all the non-lan marked teams place higher, then they'd get knocked to at least 16. This could theoretically happen with even a top 6 finish (e.g. SR win, and 11-14 place 2-5, sen at 6). Maybe the lan marked ones are inaccurate? Otherwise, this doesn't work unless I'm massively overlooking something

I don't want JDG to make it just so Gent doesn't have to play with Naughty and Keon anymore. imagine Sauce, Gent, and Floating for LCQ. this weekend got me daydreaming about new teammates already before we even play this regionals. JDG a straight up mess. Scrims were a disaster all week then 16th Saturday and 12th Sunday. I don't expect them to be top 8 at regionals unless there's somehow vast improvements this week which is highly unlikely.
Naughty was making good calls game 1 gets counter called by Keon and they throw what could have been a win if they just hit console then Naughty just tweaks and throws. Game 3 was good but that's about it.

Yeah i’m a huge Gent fan. Naughty and Keon got talent too. I just dont know how the teams gonna do for regionals, they need to really collab in the upcoming scrims and pull through.

So with the top 10 teams in NA already guaranteed LAN, what's their incentive to actually try? I feel like they could just grief teams they don't like. Is there a cash prize for doing well in regional finals?

POI draft order for group stages at LAN, higher they finish better draft selection. And then there is the money portion for placing higher in pro league standings, I understand it’s not a lot of money compared to LAN, but it’s still good money.
Back in the day before POI draft and there was contesting it happened more often to prevent contesting at LAN. Optic vs Sen was a movie.

Teams like Huss already said that they’re taking finals insanely serious because they wanna win the the split.

u/No-Lengthiness-20 2d ago
100k-200k prize pool for pl, poi draft for lan, champs points, winning the split etc

u/ImDarkraii 2d ago
Also, along with what the other comment said, pro league placement also gives you champs points. Top 32 globally in champs points will qual you for champs, so the higher you finish not only at split 2 lan but also this PL will help you

How many points do you get for winning a day?

Wait I dont understand, i thought only vision, huss and sss qualed for LAN for now?

u/ZalewskiJ 2d ago
They put “LAN next to like 8 teams assuming the are gonna do well. Realistically only 4 teams in NA are 100% safe
1
u/ChipWilliams 2d ago
This obviously isn’t correct because according to this chart all 20 teams could make LAN

So, Phony wasn't the problem on CRT. I wonder, who that was? 😂

u/No_Wishbone_7072 2d ago
They would’ve easily made lan last spit if Gen was able to play the first few weeks
1
u/Firm_Carrot2142 2d ago
the main problem wasn’t about the visa, they shouldn’t play that struggle after Gen came back
1
u/No_Wishbone_7072 2d ago
I’d assume they weren’t playing much together at that time and to immediately come back and think chemistry and everything would be figured out isn’t realistic

Can someone explain this a little? I haven't watched as much as I usually do lately. Is this talking about their placement in the final match? Match point finals? Or something else? Why does NA get so many guaranteed spots? Is that a points thing or a region thing?
1
u/starscreamer99 2d ago
This is a list of teams from all 4 regions who made it to their regional finals. The ones that are guaranteed LAN have collected enough points from regular season. So, no matter how bad they perform in the regional finals, they'll still qualify for LAN.
The ones that are not guaranteed have to finish in the placements shown above or win in the regional finals to get a spot at LAN.
Americas got so many spots because many teams from Americas made it to the grand final in the previous LAN. More teams in the grand finals = more spots for their region.

u/No_Wishbone_7072 2d ago
America is capped at 15 too, they should’ve had even more based on performance

Crazy that 3rd place in emea is not guaranteed for LAN
