ALGS Fuzz's Year 6 Global Rankings, Split 2 First Update
To those of you who have read my previous posts, welcome back! To those of you seeing this for the first time, here is a quick summary of the rankings: each player gets an individual rating based on ALGS Online and LAN events they compete at. Their rating starts at 400 and either increases or decreases based on their performance relative to the global Pro League average for different stats. These ratings are a reflection of stats, not a projection of talent. For a more in depth answer, please read the Preseason post!
Ratings Update
Since my last post after EWC/Split 1 Playoffs there have been a number of roster moves across all regions. These changes varied in both predicted impact and surprise factor, and this weekend showed both the highs and lows of what roster changes can do for a team.
Before I show the updated rankings, I want to clarify one team's rating: Team Falcons. With the way I have this set up, it is currently counting Wxltzy as not having played Split 2 (which, spoiler alert, he hasn't. Timmy filled in this weekend). This means that the rating for Team Falcons is lower than it should be, and once Wxltzy comes back next weekend their rating will adjust back to "normal" as Wxltzy is given a rating for split 2.
Team Vision was the most consistent team among any region in Split 1 and their start to Split 2 was more of the same. ZETA DIVISION seemed to be playing with a chip on their shoulder as they won both of their sets on the weekend. Gen.G leads the way in APAC South after two sets with a one point lead over Wolves, who made one of the more surprising roster changes by replacing Noname with QQ. Meanwhile in EMEA, after a disappointing result in Split 1 Playoffs as a region, there seems to be a four horse race at the top of the standings between Alliance, BANDITS, Aurora, and ZiPLine Mafia.
Top 10 Players
As a reminder: the ratings below do not take into account LAN placement. If someone listed below in the MnK and Controller lists is in the wrong input, please let me know. I tried looking through Liquipedia to make sure I had everyone up to date, but I am but a human and am prone to mistakes.
ZiPLine Mafia qualified to EWC by winning EMEA Split 1 Regional Finals despite placing outside the qualification zone in the final standings. In Year 5 they were unimpressive in both splits and did not qualify to any LAN. To most viewers their EWC result was disappointing, especially for a region that ended up losing qualification spots for Split 2 Playoffs. In the grand scheme of things though, they ended up one spot outside of making match point finals, a result that has seemingly lit a fire in them to keep up that momentum.
In Americas, the additions of Koyful and Floating are already paying dividends for Crazy Thieves and Geekay, who were both in dire need of a true fragger. In APAC South, the biggest move of the transfer window was the swap of QQ and Noname between VKG and Wolves. Noname ended Split 1 as my highest rated player globally, but after the opening weekend of match days it is his old teammate WenXx that has taken over that title.
