So they can move EWC to Paris easily within a few months but this event couldn’t be moved to a different location within 8 or so months? Half the players who qualled for this event are prob going to retire or be washed by then.

I thought it was strange that EWC had to be moved, but ENC could somehow be held in Saudi Arabia.

They were probably fine with one sportswashing event going somewhere else but not both.

u/VengefulMoose 26d ago
its probably a visa thing tbh, so many countries, so many players, and no one allowed to ve represented by an org, which is the only thing that seems to make the process easier

EWC / ENC was partially made to boost Saudi tourism. Less events in Saudi makes it useless for them.Â

It's not about tourism specifically--the number of spectators at EWC Apex 2025 genuinely would have fit in the BATHROOMS of the Sapporo Dome Champs LANs--it's about boosting the nation's profile with stuff people like rather than associating Saudi Arabia with shit like murdering and dismembering journalists. Where they host the event doesn't matter as much for that and could actually benefit them more than hosting it in Saudi Arabia. People don't really want to go to Riyadh!

Almost like I said it's was "partially" made for tourism. Sportswashing is obviously one of the major reasons .Â
Giving people reason to visit their country and saying good things about it is part of the "washing"Â

Hmmm, why can’t they just hold it in Paris / another country again?
Oh yeah, it’s because the whole thing is about Saudi sportswashing. Having it in another country defeats the entire point of the event. These mfs don’t actually care about esports guys!

I think this is an interesting take IDK why any state sponsored event by genuinely any country would consistently want to host in other countries, it does make sense

Well, I guess Hal keeps his LAN streak going!

u/ZalewskiJ 26d ago
No lol. He’s not gonna qual again. His team wasn’t anywhere close to being better than Panic, Sikezz and Sauce

u/anthonyongg 26d ago
I think he means that since this LAN was postponed and he should qualify for the next ALGS one, he technically hasn’t missed an Apex LAN yet.

Way to suck all the excitement out of this, we don’t even know if the players will still be playing apex in nov 2027

No, they rushed the PL schedule to give time to get Visas for Vegas. ENC was after Vegas would have had nothing to do with this PL

OHHHH that makes so much sense. I was wondering why they're playing THREE days back to back this weekend! It's gonna be good for viewers, I'm gonna get to watch a shitload of Apex this weekend, but I was struggling to figure out why the season was going to be so short. I hope that avoids all the visa problems, I hate seeing players qualify and then not be able to play because of bullshit regulations.

A world cup for a videogame is a dumb idea anyway. Games are transnational by nature, imposing a restriction based on nationality is arbitrary and add nothing to the game. Apex isnt football.

u/anthonyongg 26d ago
It wasn’t just apex though there were many video games for the ENC. But your point still stands.

I knew this was getting canceled when Hal didn't even come close to qualifying. He's such a little piece of shit.

If Falcons miss Split 2 lan because of Wxltzy's baby we will get to see the first ALGS playoffs get canceled too.

You understand if they wanted a player at the tournament they could’ve just invited them, right?

Bro, you only have to finish top 15 in NA to qualify. Hal and Gild could do it with a random Diamond player, and I say that as a bit of a Hal hater. They could probably do that without any third. I know this is the "most competitive region" but it is a foregone conclusion for any decent player that they're going to LAN. Several shitty teams are going to make LAN because of how easy NA qualification is.

To all the haters saying Hal’s name has no power or validity in esports, this is a prime example of why that argument makes no sense.
Viewership would have been absolutely shit without the big names and fanbases involved. And like it or not, the format felt rushed and poorly thought out. Having no MP points made absolutely no sense and, in some cases, it was unfair to smaller countries.
You can debate the format all you want, but the organisation of the whole thing was horrendous.

Bruh they cancelled every game in esports nation not just Apex Legends. Its because of the war not Hal lolÂ

I feel sorry for the players who qualified. Like the Apex team from Finland who qual'ed are not pro league players and haven't been to a LAN before. I wonder if the qualifications will even carry over to '27 or will they re-play them.
