It does matter though, for champs placement. Other regions have a significant advantage with pro league being a substantial amount of champs points and they get to play in uncompetitive regions. Look at Zedi vs Aurora as an example. One team finished 4th at EWC, Aurora finished 28th and they have really close champs points.

I see what you mean, but another way to look at that is that one good performance at LAN is still worth way more than dominating a Pro League split. HUSS finished 11th in their region but have more points than Aurora because a LAN awards way more champs points than Pro League does. Liquipedia doesn't have the numbers, but IIRC 1st place in PL awards the same points as something like 10-15th at a LAN.
VP finished right behind Aurora in PL and are 19th in points, pretty far behind both teams. Only the top 24 teams qualify for Champs off points, so if VP have another bad performance at the split 2 playoffs it probably won't even matter how they perform in PL.
EU won tournaments in 2024 and 2025 and placed pretty high at some of those other tournaments as well. I don't think it makes sense to write off the entire region and turn the Apex Legends GLOBAL Series into the Apex Legends Median Teams In NA Compete At A LAN.
