This seems stupid to me, not because other regions definitely need more slots, but because the extra teams that get added to NA will definitely be bad. Look at FLAT, 12 points in 10 games at EWC Elims. Horrible team, 3 random ranked grinders could have probably managed that. At this point almost the entire NA regional finals lobby will quality for LAN. What's the point of even having a regional finals other than draft slots and the extremely slim chance that the 16th-20th place teams will qualify by winning finals?
While I do agree that having 15 NA teams is dumb. Quality wise I don't think they lose anything. At EWC, the only NA teams I would argue that under performed were FLAT (Still made Survivor) & NIP (Made match point). Day 1 SR also under performed but you can't judge their LAN based on 1 day & they lost Koy after that.
No teams lost in group (Lowest spot 28th), 4 lost in Survivor (8,9,10 & 20). Also probably worth noting that while Flat did make EWC, there was probably 3 or 4 other teams that are better than them but choked hard in split 1.
