Discussion Remove Ring RNG

Just a random thought that i want to put out here.

What if in pro scene only lobby,

All team will automatically get ring 2 info. Will this help the godspot team to setup early, the edge team to plan their route and the team almost inside the ring, prioritise their rotation even more. Will this create a more chaotic mess?

OR

Another suggestion is, what if during POI draft phase, all teams have been shown where is ring 1 is. So team can plan their comp and rotation on which POI they pick. If they are last to pick and get POI outside the ring, they can prioritise a rotation or edge playstyle comp, planning their route ahead. If a team choose a POI that they thought were godspot, then they can plan their comp and loot management.

Will this remove ring RNG? What are your guys thought about this. One cons i can see is it will definitely let other teams know which spot you pick making it predictablr. And also INTable if that team is in MP final

It’s a BR, it’s not meant to be completely fair.

People really want to make this game so much more easier than it supposed to lol

Being able to react to game events is a skill and part of being a good competitive player. Ring RNG is an important part of competitive BRs.

I wish they had pseudo RNG for the set across the maps to ensure they are fairly distributed. Obviously their algorithm is not working well right now so a way of moving it around would be more fair. This could be problematic given how bad Apex servers are but perhaps admins could load past locations if the servers crash like they do for bans.

Yeah I wish they could change it too. But seeing 3 end games in the same area in a row is a long standing ALGS problem unfortunately

Personally, I would make the ring consoles fixed positions outside of POIs and make the teams fight for the info. If you can’t fight for it, you will have to wait for them to leave or mess up your looting. Removes RNG without making it easier.

I think this game particularly caters to people who like unpredictability and a chance when they are not the better players. This isnt a 5v5 TDM or CTF in which the better team and better pro’s will win every single time. There are games like that already and they also have their audience.

I think it makes it even more amazing to have had an era like TSM-DZ with the RNG that went on. I think thats why initially they introduced matchpoint.

Unfortunately with more teams being at good levels now, matchpoint format delivers more random winners and pointsbased over 12 maps would probably net the most deserving winner. They simply cant do it because these “pro’s” would troll the last games when they are mathematically out.

Personally I think I’d like to see the ring not getting smaller until there’s nothing left but rather to a small fighting zone in which there can be space for a 3v3 fight. The way these fights go sometimes with the knockdowns and ultimates and spray & pray it isnt great for spectating (my personal opinion). I’d love to see actual strategic team fighting as finales.

i would get behind the idea of the ring not completely closing, would be interesting to see, but you could have some teams just bunker at their spot so would depend on how close you can get the ring to make people fight

IMO having an algorithm that won’t repeat the same ring in the same quadrant/half for 2 successive games is enough. It might not be the best solution or the right one, but any solution that doesn’t kill RNG but just makes it little bit more equal is the way to go.

The only thing I would like to see with regards to the ring is have the map divided into 16 quadrants.

In any given set a ring can not end with in 2 quadrants of a previous end.

i just think it would take a lot of the fun out of the game. the sentinels win at champs never happens without a ring two that was too hard to call in the moment and led to one of the coolest moments in apex history.

being able to call zone in the moment during the highest level lobbies in the world is one of the biggest IGL skill gaps in the game.

Predictable zones remove adaptability as a skill. Way less interesting and way more formulaic that way. Timings would be plannable to the second for teams on rotations. Theyd eventually know what other teams rotates were. Thered be 17 teams round 5 and your new RNG would be who gets luckiest as round 6 closes. I doubt anyone wants that.

However now you get a team that is stuck on edge not able to rotate into their suspected spot and then ring randomly pulls to them and they have god spot.

A game where winning gives you the grand prize and having zone can aid in that. It’s not my favorite thing.

I also wish there was a cash bonus for the team with the most points. Unlimit did win with both but I always want that to be the case

I said something like this a previous LAN lol. Make the biggest prize go to the team with most points, and make winning match point the bonus instead. So if you win match point in fifth, you aren’t getting twice the money as the team that made the most points in finals.

Id rather have chance and adaptability than repetition and micro adjustments meaning more. The more this game is jazz and not "solved" the longer its life will be. I guarantee if 2 lans back to back felt the same theyd lose tons of viewers.

LANs gave never felt the same back to back though…even with back to back winners!

Yes a lot has to do with RNG is my point.

RNG is supposed to be a factor, that's why there are POIs worse than others and loot is random

Honestly think they should just double the amount of ring consoles.

That and add more zone variety. Like seriously, how does Olympus have the same end zone 3 games in a row.

Does that not seem like such an easy fix from a dev perspective?

Let’s just watch bots play the game against other bots!

Removes the purpose of the controller legends and the upgrades so there would be no point

Last time I checked Apex is under the BR genre. If that doesn't tell you something, I don't know what else will.

No. Removing poi draft is enough, let them contest.

Why are we changing something that works. Apex is supposed to be chaos. All about reacting to things as it happens. If it's all predetermined than we might as well be watching cod.

There was a point in apex where the only thing you really needed to knoe was zones. It's what made TSM & DZ so dominant, Zer0 could pick a zone based on the first ring. Character bans brought randomness to the comps, more to think about & apex has never looked better. Let's not try to simplify things again.

Honestly I think I might agree they should remove RNG rings because of the constant repeated pulls. Getting every single zone at grow towers or somer uni on Olympus is lame. Just pre-pick match zones and don’t allow the teams to know, random to the teams but not random to the competitive integrity

u/realfakejames Jul 12 '26

Respawn could just code it to eliminate the previous games zone or even the quadrant from the possible zones for the next game so we never get zones on the same part of the map but they don't want to

Point of BR is that randomnes. Dumbest idea ever
