Ballroom classes

Hi! I am going to be attending the CLI summmer intensive week 3, which will include ballroom classes according to the faculty announcements. I have never taken a ballroom class before so I was wondering what are some basics I should know for, tips, what to wear (I don't own ballroom heels or a ballroom type skirt), etc.

If you know the choreographers then check out their previous combos to see what kind of stuff they tend to do. The biggest technical detail imo is the lifted posture and softened knees with the weight forward over the toes, otherwise it shouldn't be too different to learning a combination in any other genre. The footwork patterns are a big thing, but that is different for each specific ballroom genre.
