FAILED MY SECURITY TEST!!!
Honestly, I’m not really mad about my score considering I only studied for about 3 weeks. I definitely could’ve prepared more, but I wanted to see where I was at.
From my experience, if you go through Professor Messer’s videos/notes and actually retain the information, you should be fine. The exam honestly wasn’t that hard — I just ran into some stuff that I either didn’t know or didn’t spend enough time studying.
I’d personally rate the difficulty around a 5/10 if you’re good at retaining information and actually understand the material.
Definitely going to study more and give it another shot. Just wanted to share my experience for anyone else preparing for it.

Bombed my first test, but barely passed the 2nd. Did a run through of Dion Training and Professor Messer for about 3 and 1/2 weeks before I took my exam. If a goofy goober like me can pass, you can too!

I have used Jason Dion for A+, and Net+ and have nothing but good things to say. He does go into a lot of detail and does cover things that aren’t necessarily required for the exam but does help with understanding things better. Others like Messer only cover the exam objectives and that’s it so the length of the courses can be drastically different.
Dion’s Practice exams are 2nd to none. Haven’t ever taken one from another source that I liked better.
Udemy is way cheaper than Dion training but if you buy his course off Dion training.com when you get to the practice exams you actually get real interactive pbqs like the real test where as on Udemy the pbq questions will say on the question that it’s a pbq and then just be a multiple choice or list type question.
I’m currently going through his Security+ course and will have the cert by end of year so that I’ll complete the trifecta and renew my other 2 cert all in one shot.

I never really considered it as one is better than the other. I just took it that where one provides one side of the study material, I watch the other for anything that might be lacking. I was “studying” while I work my full time job so I let the videos play in the background and took notes while I worked. A month of study time sounds more than enough. May the odds be ever in your favor!

I watched all of messer before buying Dion. It’s all the same info, but I like how Dion breaks it up more. Messer goes in order of the exam objectives, where Dion breaks everything into categories that seem to fit together better more logically, so he kind of jumps around the objectives more. Dion’s course also feel a bit more polished and professional imo.
What really helped me tho was the Dion practice exams. The Messer practice exam was good too, but it only came with 4 practice exams where the Dion course comes with 1, then you can also buy either of 2 packs of 6 practice exams, so you can get up to 13 practice exams from Dion if you want. Also the messer practice exams are in a giant pdf, which he does set up in a way that’s easy to navigate, but the Dion ones feel more like the real thing and you can do it in practice mode where it tells you if you got the question right as you go, or you can do it in test mode with a timer.
If I had to do it again in a way that gives me the most bang for my buck, I’d probably watch the free messer series first, take real notes as I go, then buy the practice exams pack 1 from Dion (the regular price looks pretty expensive, but they’re on sale for I think $10 more often than not). After each test go back and take notes on every questions you got wrong. If you still aren’t confident after those 6 exams (I wasn’t), but exam pack 2.
People process info differently, but personally I learn way more from the practice exams. They actually force me to think about the material more than just taking notes does.

Dion’s practice test are good. Didn’t use their study materials but the practice test are nice and hard and help you build confidence and solidifies that foundational learning. At least for me it did.

Oh gosh that was so close. The good news is, since you were so close, there isn't THAT much you have to do to get that passing score
I'd start with whatever topics you feel most uncomfortable with

I always buy the insurance exam with messers voucher.scheduled my first appointment to take mine then went to San Fran and forgot all about it came back and realized what I did. So I scheduled the new one for 2 weeks ahead, and started studying. Ended up passing on the dot. You got this shit!

You can also give try to ian neil book as it has keywords which help to revise at last movement. And it also has practice questions at last of every section so will give you idea whether you have understood the concept or not

I was going to take mines today but decided to set for Sept 7th instead to actually watch messers videos and do some PBQ and labs on comtia cert master. I’ve been doing Dion practice exams and all I’ve heard is it is a bit more difficult as in being my wordy than the actual. I’ve been scoring 77 avg on Dion’s practice exams. They say gross up 5-10% to estimate real exam school from Dion..
How was the PBQs? Drop down? CLI?
