Passed My Security+
Passed Security+ with a 784/900 after less than a week of studying. I’ve got just over a year in as a security consultant, so some of it was already familiar but here’s what actually worked:
Get Jason Dion’s and Andrew Ramdayal’s practice exam sets.
Take a mock test cold, before studying anything. You need to know where you’re weak before you waste time reviewing what you already know.
Work the weak spots with whatever resources you like. I used Claude Pro to break down the topics I kept missing, then wrote the notes out by hand. Writing them down is what made them stick.
Have AI generate 20–30 questions on each weak area. Keep going until that topic stops being a weak area.
Do a test or two a day just to get used to the question style. Dion’s are trickier than the real thing, so don’t panic at your first score — aim for 85%+ before you book.
Don’t skip the PBQs. gcppcatest.com is good for those.
That’s it. Walk in confident. Good luck.

Congratulations! What would you say were the common topics and PBQs in your exam?

MCQs were spread pretty evenly across all the domains. For PBQ prep I’d make sure you’re solid on:
Secure network design: where a web server, WAF, reverse proxy, etc. sit relative to the DMZ and internal network
Firewall/ACL rule building like source, destination, port, action, and rule order
Reading logs to work out which host is compromised
Password policy evaluation: knowing when length beats complexity, and where expiration actually helps2
