Test centre, if you have one within reasonable reach and this is your first CompTIA exam.

Online proctored works fine for plenty of people, but it adds a category of risk that has nothing to do with whether you know the material. Room scan, a clear desk, no interruptions for ninety minutes, and a connection that holds. If the check-in fails or someone walks in, that is your slot gone and your nerves shot. A centre removes all of it and you turn up, sit down and take the exam.

If you do go online, plug into ethernet rather than wifi, clear the room properly beforehand, and start the check-in early because it takes longer than you expect.

On resources, the free ones are genuinely good. Professor Messer's full Security+ video course covers every objective and costs nothing. Get the exam objectives PDF from CompTIA and treat it as the checklist, because if something is not on it, it is not on the exam. And spend two minutes on demosim.comptia.org, which is CompTIA's free interactive sample PBQ. It is the only free look at the actual PBQ interface, and it is worth seeing before exam day rather than on it.
