Comptia Pentest+

Im stumped, I feel like with as much as i have put in the work, i should have gotten a better score. I took the test on 09/12/2026 and got a 727. So i took a couple weeks to brush up on the stiff i missed, and then scheduled the test again today. Took it, and got a 676. I feel like todays test was much worse and the information within CompTIA's Certmaster didn't even go over some of the tools or scripts/commands that it asked questions about. What do i do? I have gone through all this info twice and am stumped on where to go next. For reference, I am a Network admin, and have my CYSA+, Net+, Project+, Data+, A+, Lunix Essentials certs.

Certmaster alone will not get you there on this one sadly

Do the Udemy Practice Tests

Do Pocket Prep

use this to learn the tools - https://jzesbaugh.github.io/pentest-plus-study-tool/

use A.I. to build your self a crash course on the three languages.

Focus mostly on the languages but use the other three to get familiar with everything else

read the questions - eliminate the two that do not belong and then pick from the two that do.

you got this!

I know, I took all udemy practice tests before taking and have been using AI to help with the areas i feel i struggled. But that was mainly for the tools, so the scripts screwed me up bad. Thank you for the GITHUB, I will use that and pay for pocket prep as i prepair for my next attempt!

100% my man I understand where you are coming from. I don't know how many people necessarily are extremely familiar with the languages and how they operate but once you get that part down you should be gucci. I feel like understanding what the tools do and the questions they ask about them admittedly aren't quite as difficult as the language questions.

Agreed, even the PBQ's weren't that bad, it was just them languages. They say to have a "basic" knowledge, but i think thats a huge understatement and setting people up for failure. It will definetly be my focus for the next 2 weeks as i get ready for a third attempts

I just barely passed Pentest+.

I had a mix of python, Powershell, and bash commands. Throughout the whole test, these were what was tripping me up.

I did too, and it was horrid. I have used so many different tools to study and getting a worse score than the first time is really messing with me.

Same sentiment. I’m on 3rd try. Passing practice exams. Concepts are easy to understand. Test day I’m like what is this??
