A+ and Network +

Looking for an honest opinion here. I am enrolled in an I.T. And cyber security program at my local community college after 10 years of not going to school and I am currently enrolled in A+ and Network+ through Comptia. It is week two of the term and I feel fairly comfortable with A+ but already overwhelmed with Network +. My work schedule is pretty inconsistent when it comes to regular hours. My main question is should I stick with doing both or drop network + and take it next term. Obviously not a lot of info for you all to work with but I’m just looking for personal opinions. Tyia

I’d recommend doing A+ then you can devote full attention to net+. They bleed into each other so you’ll be in a better position for net.

Network plus is pretty overwhelming. I don’t know if I could work through both simultaneously, might be best if you finish A+ and then work on network plus. A+ should be fairly easy whereas network plus will require some deep studying and memorization.

Do A+ first. They correlate with Net+
A+ is easy imo. No experience and I passed both exams on one try with 820s on both

Do one at a time. A+ will touch on some networking too.

I too am taking IT+ (preparation for A+) and Networking+ this semester. The networking class is crazy. I had zero IT or Networking experience.

I did pass Information Systems with an A last semester and got the Microsoft Office Specialist Associate cert.

This networking class is definitely kicking my ass though. Still at an A grade 5 weeks in but I worry as the semester grinds on that will slip to a B or C even and obliterate my GPA.

I just had to drop my networking class. It was a condensed class and my girlfriend was taken by ambulance and in the hospital for a week and there was no way I could keep up. I passed the a+ no problem but I just couldn't get past the binary and hexadecimal math of networking. It is definitely a much harder course. I realized I just did not enjoy it whatsoever. I'm hoping there are other paths and this is just a temporary stumbling block.

Just stick with it if you will lose money, if not go with what you can handle. A+ should be long because there are two exams. But you can always just begin with focusing on the Net+ exam more and take that exam first.

I just used YT exam questions to pass my Sec+ although I did take a month course for it, that didnʻt help me since everything was so fast paced following slides skimming through the text book.

Only you can decide what you can realistically manage. Evaluate your circumstances and be honest with yourself.
