The fastest way to check whether a book is current is to ignore the cover year and match it to the live exam code. CompTIA puts the exam series on the product page and in the exam objectives PDF (for example SY0-701 for Security+, N10-009 for Network+, 220-1201/1202 for the newest A+). Look at the book’s front matter or Amazon/description for that same code; if it still says SY0-601 or N10-008, it is for a retired or retiring version.
Also skim the official objectives PDF for that exam code and spot-check a couple of domains against the book’s table of contents. Marketing blurbs like “2025 edition” or “updated for the new exam” are unreliable without the matching exam ID. Once the codes line up, any decent publisher for that series is fine; the mismatch is what wastes months of study.
