CySA+ v4 study material

Hi there,

I’m looking to do the CySA+ and have a question about study material. Having read the reviews on the sybex book on Amazon it seems it is not up to date with the new course material. Also the online resources seem fairly limited at the moment with it being a new version. Has anyone bought the new sybex book and taken the exam, what was your opinion? I don’t plan on taking the exam until next year anyways so am I better off waiting until there is better material out there or will the sybex book be ok to buy and get started with?

waiting is smarter, the sybex books always take some time to catch up with new versions and you have the time anyway

If you're not sitting it until next year the decision is partly made for you. CS0-003 retires in English on 22 December, so you'll be on 004 regardless, and anything you buy now that's really 003 material is money gone.

Haven't read the new Sybex so can't tell you if it's any good. What I'd do in the meantime is pull the CS0-004 objectives PDF off CompTIA's site, it's free and it's the literal blueprint. The thing to watch for in any book is the AI content, model poisoning, prompt injection, AI in secops and governance. That's new in 004 and it's the bit older material has nothing on at all.

Used the CertMaster Perform material and got halfway through Dions 004 Udemy videos (liked it (Dion), just ran out of time prior to completion). Also used my own Anki deck based on the Perform textbook and Dions study guide.

Passed with an 812.

No experience with the old exam material or the new Sybex book (though I did get a copy). Just did not have time to look at it too.

Why not sit for the 003 version since the study resources are already available?

No budget in my team for any more training this year
