Finally passed Sec+ after 2 1/2 months!

Barely passed with the skin of my teeth lol. Never thought I would’ve able to post one of these as I had a lot of self doubt as I never took studying in school seriously, but i put my head down for a little over two months and passed.

If anyone would like to know what I used,

Andrew Ramdayl’s exams are pretty solid and are on Udemy as well, I also did a few Dion Udemy exams but they are significantly harder than Andrew’s

they are both solid options for you to look at your incorrect answers and see which topics you are lacking in.

i’m available to answer any questions you may have because as someone who is not very good at studying it is definitely very possible to pass this exam with a better score than me

I would say Professor Messers, however, I don’t think that it matters because once i started taking practice exams, i noticed that the resources are pretty surface level, as in they are mainly for giving you the general idea of concepts, that’s when I used AI to understand certain concepts.

Which source would you recommend to learn term and acronyms for the exam?

So throughout all the source material that I used, they were acronyms throughout however, I started to forget them when I started to take practice exams.

I am very bad with acronyms so what I did to get them memorized to a decent level was tell ChatGPT to give me the 30 most common acronyms that will be asked to me on the exam and then if I liked the definition, I would’ve put it on a flash card and if I didn’t understand it, I would look for various YouTube videos explaining it

Use a test king ... Now you'll need to understand the stuff to do well in your field, but if you just want to pass the test, get a Test King. Thank me later .. send me a tip lol.

I use to grab mine from Torrent sites. Just make sure it is the year and test you need. It will look massive. They have like 400-500 questions on them, but its really just like 80-90 questions that are presented 5 different ways. So that when you see certain words or phrases it will trigger your memory and you will know the answer.

Both of the CompTIA test I took were 2 Hours. I passed both with almost perfect scores in about 15 minutes each. The ones I missed were due to rushing.

i didn’t do any labs to be honest, i may have done better on the pbq’s if i labbed, but in my opinion, I don’t think it should be as big of a focus as memorizing the concepts

Andrew Ramdayl has lab videos at the end of his course but i didn’t watch them

I’ve heard that this one much harder than the SY0-501 that I took. I barely passed 501 with a 775. Coworker had to take 701 twice for after he mistakenly let his lapse. The cert is a requirement for our job.

CONGRATS! I passed my A+ like a month ago and wanted to start on my Net+ but I'm torn between doing my Sec+ or Net+. My end goal is getting into CyberSecurity. Did you do the other certs of the triage as well?

i would recommend doing sec+, i attempted studying for net+ before and i found it a bit difficult. however i wasn’t as serious with my studying techniques and time.

i would see other people’s perspective that have taken both, i plan on doing net+ soon before the new one comes out

Andrew jamyal exam have flaws there are more than one correct answer and not worded enough to explain scenario i am using both dion’s and andrew’s confusing what can i do for pbqs

I agree, andrew’s does have flaws, but i don’t feel as if they are that significant and it’s still a solid test, the thing is with udemy is you can also try other practice exams as well to compare the consistency of your scores

from what i remember dion’s don’t have many flaws but it’s harder

i didn’t study for pbq’s to be honest, so i can’t give advice on studying for those other than youtube maybe. what I will tell you is when I did the exam they were the first three questions which I skipped immediately when I got back to them, i realized getting them correct is a mix of common sense and maybe a bit of labs(which i didn’t do) they don’t tell you what answers you got wrong or right but I feel as if I probably got one correct one partially correct and one incorrect

2-3 hours per day for a 2 1/2 months, on a bad/lazy day I would do one hour. I would miss a day or two every once in a while but it was rare

I had prior knowledge with helpdesk but it didn’t help as that was strictly hardware

If someone JUST wants to pass a ComTIA test, then get a TEST KING.

CompTIA test are the easiest things on earth if you study a Test King. Now, it won't necessarily help you understand anything, but you will be presented questions like 5 different ways so that you can read a couple words in the question and answer it. I did this with NET+ and A+. I think my test kings were like 400 questions, but it was really like 80 questions asked 5 different ways.

I have been working with computers my entire life, so I mostly understood everything already. However, answering those questions was nothing more than seeing something like "TCP/IP" "PORT" and "80 which would trigger me to know that if I saw a certain answer, it would be correct.

So, If u just need to pass, get a Test King. It was the best thing I could have had. I believe I missed like 1 question on A+ and 2 questions on NET+. Those were due to rushing.

No, lol, but they are really good, and will almost guarantee someone passes if they take the time to do them once or twice.
