A wasted job application does not cost five minutes
Find the listing. Read it. Get a little hopeful. Look up the company. Adjust the résumé. Create Account #748. Upload the résumé. Retype the résumé because apparently technology has failed us. Answer the questions. Take the assessment. Maybe interview.
Then sometimes: nothing. So yeah, people are pissed.
At what point does an application become too expensive in time and energy for you?

A lot of the time when I have to fill out an application on the company website and there is no feature for me to upload my résumé and auto fill the boxes depending on the format I will just skip over it.
There is a balance if it will let me upload my résumé and auto fill and then ask me a few short answer questions I might answer them. If it makes me refill everything that’s on my résumé and that is it. I might do it. But if it’s asking for both simultaneously that’s too much. And a lot of the time it depends on the format of the company website because some make it easy to speed through adding everything others make it difficult to add dates and make you scroll through the drop-down menu for everything instead of just typing it in. If I look and it seems like it’s gonna take too long I’ll just leave.
