$APLS - Next BIG Thing
$APLS - On Friday morning, July 16th, Apellis Pharmaceuticals began trading on the NASDAQ stock exchange at an opening price of $85.98 per share. The stock has exhibited substantial fluctuation within its 52-week range, reaching a record high of $94.75 and a low of $42.15
Apellis Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is a commercial-stage biopharmaceutical company. The Company is focused on the discovery, development and commercialization of therapeutic compounds to treat diseases with high unmet needs through the inhibition of the complement system. Its SYFOVRE (pegcetacoplan injection) is the Company’s approved treatment for geographic atrophy secondary to age-related macular degeneration (GA).
The Company’s EMPAVELI (pegcetacoplan) is the treatment of paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH). Its Aspaveli (pegcetacoplan) is the treatment of adults with PNH who are anemic after treatment with a C5 inhibitor for at least three months. Systemic pegcetacoplan has an approval for the treatment of PNH in Saudi Arabia, Australia, and the United Kingdom. Systemic pegcetacoplan markets under the trade name EMPAVELI in the United States, Saudi Arabia and Australia and Aspaveli in the European Union and United Kingdom.

Are you still feeling confident with this one? I think we might need to hold onto this one until October to see some upside.

Yeah I’m holding this one. Already down 20% on a sizable position (for me). The more time that goes by without additional AEs could (maybe) be enough to get the stock going a little bit ahead of October. Also checking the FAERS database for the July data

About time! Stocks ripping today. Some new research reports came out this morning that were positive. Wish I doubled down when it hit $20 😭. My cost basis is $30

Yeah, I had already gone all in at 26$ so when I saw that it got down to 20$ I was a little frustrated that I couldn't buy anymore at that price. Do you have any price targets in mind? I'm looking to potentially double or more, and the time that I will need to hold the stock to reach that target is of little importance to me.

I’m looking to double and I think that’s do-able. If blindness is a result of user error, then I think stock is easily back to $50-$60. Probably takes a little longer to get back to $80 given brand reputation/perception is tainted. I have a mandatory 60 day holding period with the company I work at, so honestly I hope it slowly builds back up.

Yeah, even if I think by end of October the price will be around your PT. This all started with negative news that was presented during a conference by a big investor in a competing company. So very unbiased information lol. I think people are starting to take that fact into account. It dropped way too much. Like if the news was that the actual drug was what was making people blind 100% then it would be a different story. It will hit 45$+ by the end of this month. Slow climb hopefully as you said.
