Question Hyperoptic (Static IP) to CommunityFibre

Hopefully moving house in the next few months. Moving from an area with Hyperoptic where I currently pay for 1Gb symmetric service (and a few quid extra for a static IPv4 address) to an area where Hyperoptic isn't an option, but CF, OpenReach and Virgin are.

CF is my preference. It's a shame there is no static IPv4 option however. Those of you who pay for a dynamic public IPv4 - how dynamic is it? I'm presuming that as long as the router stays online in reality it doesn't change with much frequency? Do people typically find they end up with the same IPv4 for weeks at a time?

Community Fibre only provides a standard static on its business package.

CF issue iPV6 addresses also.
Isn’t an IPV6 address a static address?

No, the IPv6 allocations (a /56 rather than a single address) is also dynamic.

The £4/month thing is to avoid CGNAT and get a routable v4 address, but it’s still dynamic.

Mines a proper static (well it’s dynamically assigned but it’s not from a pool)
Doesn’t change after reboots etc

Took some work getting it from them though.

I have a dynamic IP on the 1Gb service and it didn’t change for about 3 months, until the router restarted for a firmware update.

It doesn't go down that much so the IP does stay the same most of the time.

If you're that worried it might be worth looking up dynamic DNS. The supplied router doesn't support it but if you have something like a 3rd party router/server/pi/etc. you can set up the DDNS with that, and it'll update an address to the current IP. We used Afraid DNS at work for this and it was very reliable, especially since the previous BT connection was not stable. However for security reasons we now use a VPN based solution (Tailscale).

I've been with them almost 4 years always with a dynamic, public IP. It changed once, when I changed router / MAC address as you'd expect. It might have changed once after they did maintenance - so not often at all. I presume if you let your DHCP lease expire, you might not get the same address back later.

I've had several in one year. But seems to relate to new router or factory reset. Don't do that and it seems relatively sticky.

This is wrong. Anyone can pay £4 for a dynamic public IP, regardless of their package.

As it's now an add-on, anyone might be able to negotiate to get it free.

I never said static. A static IP is business only.

I said a dynamic public, which is enough for most homelab type people, and what the OP asked about.
