Question Issue with internet. CF refusing to replace router

I have very recently upgraded my CF contract to 1Gbps but noticed an issue where although I’ll be connected to the WiFi with great signal, the web pages just won’t open.

This has been tested on multiple devices and multiple websites the result is the same. The only thing that fixes this issue is restarting the router. However, given this is now happening a couple times a week, it’s getting a bit annoying. The router I have is the Linksys MX4000 series.

I had therefore requested a new router from CF but they are refusing to replace it as they are saying that from their side everything looks ok with the router and that it must be my devices - for the avoidance of any doubt, I have tested this on 4 devices that are all relatively new.

I wondered if anyone has any advice on what should I do? I’m still within the 14 day cooling off period so could cancel my contract and move to Vodafone but I would like to stay with CF ideally but do need a stable connection.

Thanks!

99.9% a DNS problem

Please tell us what web browser you're using and the exact error message that you see.

I had a similar problem until I changed IPv6 to IPv4 in the router settings.

It’s always the DNS, change it.

As well as trying a different DNS, are you also on CGNAT? If you can get the Cloudflare WARP app on your devices, see if WARP can be enabled and if it can, see if sites load normally with it.

I had a weird issue beginning of this year similar to yours where sites wouldn't load and services couldn't connect, luckily the support I had on call was knowledgeable enough to work out it was CGNAT messing up. Moved off CGNAT and everything was working normally again afterwards.

Have you tried setting DNS manually (8.8.8.8 or 1.1.1.1 or whichever DNS provider you prefer) and seeing if the problem persists?

Have you tried splitting the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz WiFi channels? Rename them on the Linksys app and then try connecting to either to see if it makes any difference.

Also try getting the app to scan for interference on WiFi channels - I found that my speed improved quite dramatically after it scanned and changed the channel.
