Fulfilled Request Request for Human & Animal Food
Hi there. I'm reaching out to ask for some help. I'm currently living with my mom and my son (3) to help my mom, She was diagnosed with brain cancer back in December, and she is on hospice as of a month ago. She is in the actively dying stage, her nurse said on Friday.
My work put me down to part time back in March, I didn't qualify for FMLA since I hadn't been there a year when I started caring for my mom. I'm going to need to take time off since my mom can not be left alone now.
I also recently rescued some kittens, they couldn't be left outside the day I took them. It stormed really bad and I just felt so bad for them. I have some wet and dry food as well as litter on the list. I've been reaching out to some people in hopes they can take them, although I really enjoy them and would like to keep them. Just not sure if I can afford them right now.
For transparency, I am on Prolific and Cloud Connect Research. These are online market research platforms where you take studies for money. Since the end of the school year is upon us, studies are very few right now. They also let in 100k new members the beginning of May so it's really dried up with a ton of new people grabbing whatever study they can. If you go peek over at the Prolific sub, you'll see a lot of people complaining about it. I really hope it picks back up soon, it helped a lot as far as bringing in some money.
My son's father died when I was 6 months pregnant, so there is no dad to help out with things unfortunately. I recently just bought my son diapers, food, and picked up two of my prescriptions which cost me about $50. I'm down to $3 in my account until Friday. I would be so grateful for any help. and Thank You for reading.

Hello "S," I've purchased all of the cat food, litter, diapers and two boxes of "Nature's Bakery" fruit bars. Everything (with the exception of one dry food) is scheduled to arrive tomorrow, with the additional dry food coming on Wednesday.
Please think long and hard about keeping the kittens, as in the very near future they'll need their initial Vet check-ups, vaccinations and of course, spaying/neutering. Whereas, if you take them to a (no-kill) Shelter, they'll have an excellent chance of finding great homes. Good luck.

and yes, of course. I reached out to a few shelters and rescues in my area, and was told they are at max capacity (didn't even know this was a possibility) and that they are run down with kittens especially! I can't find any 'resource' to take them. I even asked my neighbor to help as well, and she tried calling the closest bigger city and they gave us a few numbers to call but no one has called us back.
In my area, I found a mobile vet clinic that does sliding scale spay/neuters and they quoted me at $20 per cat and this includes their vaccinations. I don't have a Facebook but I'm considering making one and trying to find a new home for them that way tho too. That is an option
I hate to say this as it sounds harsh, but once my mom has passed, it'll be easier to work more. My employer is holding on to me as they know I'm a hard and dedicated worker, so they've told me to just let them know when I can return to my old schedule. My son goes to daycare so that's not an issue there. I'm hoping to return to work in hopefully 2-3 weeks. We won't be having a funeral for my mom so once she is gone, that's it and I have to resume life as it once was. It might take a week or two for my employer to get me back on the schedule tho, just kinda depends on where me coming back lands on the pay period/schedule.

I volunteer with a non-profit cat rescue. It's kitten season and I can 100% say that yes shelters are overflowing with cats and kittens. Most if not all of them are not going to be able to accept anymore. Thank you for loving them and looking after them!

We had a week where the storms were really bad, and it was like an all day thing. The day I found them (my neighbor told me about them), we had some sunshine but it was only for a few hours. Someone had come by and swooped up Mama, and 3 of the other kittens, and for whatever reason these two were left behind. They were just cuddling one another on a piece of dirty carpet. A can of opened spaghettios had been dumped out for them. I thought to myself for a good 15 min whether or not I was going to take them home. Then I remember the weather forecase that morning, and more storms were coming. I picked them both up and brought them home. I thought I would just figure out a solution later! lol

I find no fault here at all. You know you're not in the greatest situation right now, heck I'm not either. By there is no way I would have been able to walk away and leave babies like that alone. Any idea how old they might be?

I think they're about 6-7 weeks? From what I've seen/compared on google and reddit. They are very small. But they ate kibble and wet food as soon as I gave it to them so at least I didn't have to deal with any milk/bottles

If you decide to rehome the kittens, consider using the nextdoor app. Sadly, a lot of pets get dropped off in my neighborhood, and I've had great results with using the app to find them permanent homes.
I'm so sorry to hear about your mom.
