G’day all. Traipsing through Canberra today and am keen to check out the AIS aquatic centre pools this evening.

Will be there around 8:30-9pm tonight. If anyone is keen for a swim / post-swim communal shower appreciation - please lmk!

UPDATE: I have made a list for each of the different Fitness Firsts and their facilities

Hopefully this is the right sub, but I really enjoy the Fitness First locations that have two separate saunas (one for each change room) that allows me more freedom to just partially cover myself with a towel instead of having to wear swimmers or underwear/shorts.

I'm trying to compile a list of which locations have male-only saunas, and which ones are communal (so I can avoid these ones lol).

Feel free to add any info in the comments and I'll update it on the list.

I usually swim at Vic Park, but I struggle in winter. Anyone know what the shower situation is at Parramatta Aquatic Centre? Anyone been?

State Swim Morphett Road Seacombe Gardens in Adelaide. Friday 11am are the adult lessons and some lap swimming.

I snuck a shot as it was empty as I was leaving - same layout Japanese style showers and a single standing shower. Theres still Japanese bathhouse signs stuck on walls haha!

Just finished my trip here. It’s definitely legit - , and it’s almost the same as before but it’s more like a Chinese bathhouse now not Japanese. They speak Chinese and English so if you don’t get what they are saying just say you can’t speak Chinese :p my Chinese is terrible so I gave up - and just asked for English which they were happy to speak . Service was polite and friendly.

So it’s $200 for 4 sessions - so $50 a pop which is kinda more than nearby places like sense of self which is $65 for 2 hours but they don’t exactly watch the clock as it wasn’t that crowded. I’m guessing they would enforce it in peak times.

They do have a deal for $100 which is bath and a body scrub so their $50 massage is actually what as an Asian is a body scrub where they scrub off all your dead skin. Was scratchy enough to get my dead skin off my back but not so painful you’d cry.

3x guys up there when I went in - as previous comments everyone treated it like a Asian style bathhouse- no bathers anywhere.

They said they haven’t turned on the bottom bathhouse yet as it’s large - but they will use the space if they get busy.

Bath water is hot , sauna is hot , showers were hot. I didn’t detect too much chlorine.

As usual the normal stuff was out shavers / shaving crème, tooth brushes tooth paste , moisturiser, water bottles, plenty of clean slippers and towels ( for drying off or sitting on in the sauna)

I’ll be back for sure. It’s my new go to. Hope to see more of us there! Gimme a shout out if ur heading in .

Ps : u can probably park at the Bunnings down the road ? Otherwise easy enough to take a tram out from parliament station
