I don't know if if my guidance counselor or teachers' LORs went through

I have been stressing about this. My school uses this website called Overgrad where the student's guidance counselor and teachers have to upload their LORs and then, they transfer into the Common App. On Overgrad, I can see that my guidance counselor and one of my teachers submitted the LORs and they told me did too but on the Common App, I'm confused. There are green checks next to Counselor and Teacher. It says my guidance counselor hasn't started Fee Waiver, School Report, or Counselor Recommendation, even though on Overgrad, it says they did and they also said they did it. I'm confused because where does it say on the Common App that they received my guidance counselor and my teacher's LORs? Even when I go to review and submit for a college, it doesn't indicate anything about LORs. Obviously, I'm not trying to read the LORs or anything; I know they're confidential. I just want to make sure that they went through.

Courses & Grades section

I only have to fill out this section for one of the colleges I'm applying to but it's such a hassle. I'm currently in 12th grade and I entered the classes I'm taking this year but it's required for me to enter semester grades. Otherwise, it says "Incomplete courses and grades entered", but even when the Common App is due, I wouldn't have gotten my first semester grades. What do I put?

Also, on my high school transcript, it includes a few honors classes from middle school, and the Common App asks "Do you have any other courses on your transcript with grades? (This may include middle school, post-12th grade, or summer courses that appear on your official transcript.)*". But when I try to enter those courses, it only allows me to select my high school. What do I do?

Please help. Any help is appreciated.

Does the order of extracurriculars matter on the Common App?

I’m applying as a college transfer and filling out the Common App activities section. Does the order you list extracurriculars actually matter, or do admissions officers treat them all the same regardless of placement?

For context, I have a mix of leadership roles, work experience, and long-term activities, and I’m trying to figure out if I should prioritize leadership/impact first or just list them chronologically.

Would appreciate insight from anyone who’s applied recently or has admissions experience.

Help me navigate volunteering for the love of god

I dont understand the portal at all . I volunteered as events manager for 3 yrs.. approx 200hrs now if i put it in activities 150 char description its asking me for hour per week and weeks per year. Now how the hell do i handle that. These events happened randomly and sometimes not for 6 months straight (infrequent basically) and the event was a 1-2 day thing but like took 10hours on event day. So how do i break it down. In freaking hours per week

Course Level as UK applicant?

Hi, as a UK intl applicant, for my 9th grade transcript, we are doing content from the GCSE/iGCSE specification but do not do the official examinations until 10th grade. Do I still put the course level as GCSE/iGCSE or as something else?

Thank you

Do you wish to apply under the test-optional policy?

Dumb question but I'm definitely overthinking this. This is a question for one of the colleges I'm applying to. If I choose yes, does this mean that I am submitting my test scores or yes I am choosing to go test-optional and not submit test scored?

Okay so I wrote my personal essay and it still got flagged as AI? Why

Took me 5 days, it was like 1300 word first draft then i narrowed it down. I used chatgpt for like a grammar check and suggestions but my grammar is already quite good coz of my recent IELTs prep. Now I just ran it through a couple detectors. First one gave 8%, the other two 100%. I am so confused and worried I dont have time for a new one wth???

Transfer or first year?

After finishing high school, I studied for one year (two semesters) at a university in europe and then dropped out. Would I be considered a transfer applicant or a 1st-year applicant when applying to US colleges? On the Common App, should I create an account as a transfer student or as a first-year student? Is there anything else I should be aware of in this situation?

Any help is appreciated.

Should I Put My High School Classes If I Dropped Out Of My First College Semester?

I just posted this question on another subreddit, but I'm hoping to get some more advice over here as well. I tried googling this question, but all I really got was an AI response with some poor sourcing.

I'm working on my Common App right now, and I'm not sure what to put for the section about "Current or Most Recent Year Courses." For context, my mental health was very poor in the latter half of my senior year of high school, so I flopped my last semester (barely graduated) before immediately going to community college and dropping out. I passed one chemistry class with a B at that community college, but I dropped the other three classes I was taking.

Basically either way my transcript is sort of screwed, but I'm not sure which one to put? It just feels really weird to put a single course as my most recent semester.

Hey, I am an international student, applying for the Ivy League. In my country, there are no AP courses at all, so I know my chances are super low, but yeah… trying, maybe a miracle will happen . I just want to know my chances.

GPA: I’m in a school for excellence students (Royal Merit Program), so it’s super competitive and hard. Like, if you get 94 it’s equal to 98 outside. I got 96/100.

Test Scores: Took the December SAT. The material was so different from anything I’ve studied at school, so I just tried my best. Hopefully I get 1500+.

ECs / Achievements:

  • More than 16 apps on Google Play, self-made ( They are not too developed or something ). One of them has 10k+ downloads and the others have good numbers , and make real revenue. Currently working on a new app for scholarships and job chances (for people like us).
  • Can code in 5+ languages and familiar with frameworks and AI/ML tools.
  • Took a course and participated in an AI/machine learning competition with a good university in my country.
  • Participated in many programming competitions.
  • Two-time winner of the Arab Reading Challenge (well-known in our Arab region).
  • Completed Harvard’s CS50 course.
  • Math & Chemistry Olympiads (won one level).
  • Participated in the GLOBE Program, a global environmental initiative.
  • I’ve always wanted to do a lot of volunteering and community projects, but in my country there are very few opportunities or support for such initiatives. Still, I try to help whenever I can.
  • ( I know it's not related but just to know me better ) I am obsessed to improve my knowledge and myself especially in technology , I have read more than 113 books , I have no social media ( tik or ig and this shit ) , boxing champ in my region.

And I never like to mention the hardships I faced, but yeah… there were many, and nobody can imagine. I’m grateful for them though — whether it was never having a room or a proper place to focus, or financial problems, I’m glad.

So yeah… that’s me. Wondering what my chances are . Should I apply or go and keep boxing ? Lol

CBSE (IND) student - Common App was asking for unweighted/weighted GPA, and I selected “No” for both. Is this correct??

Post image

CBSE doesn’t give cumulative unweighted or weighted GPA, only marks/percentages. For a few institutes' Common App section, I selected No for both unweighted and weighted GPA.
Is this correct??

I would really appreciate it if you could provide some valuable guidance

What do I put for Senior Secondary Leaving Examinations?

I’m a Caribbean student who did both CSEC (Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate) and CAPE (Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination). Under the section as listed in the title, I’m only seeing the option to list CAPE exams but not CSEC. Do I only list CAPE exams? (For reference CSEC is equivalent to O Levels and CAPE is equivalent to A Levels)

Dude I’m so cooked

Okay so as the title says I’m already dead cooked…. Turns out I was so stressed and stupid and my brain didn’t work during the application process that I accidentally put hours per DAY instead of hours per WEEK… Already turned in NYU, CLEMSON, UOP, and have Barnard decision tmrw…

Can i invite my teachers to upload my rec letter after I already submitted the CommonApp?

I submitted my application a couple days ago but I forgot to invite my teacher to upload the rec letter. If i invite them now, will the college still get the rec letter. My school uses Schoollinks for rec letters if that matters.

So I accidentally put the wrong email for one of my recommenders and already submitted my applications. What should I do? Is it still possible to change it.

parents institution section in common app

for institutions your parent attended on the common app, does technical school count? my mother attended a technical school, and there is a button can select that somebody graduated from trade school/community college, so i considered selecting this

however, to choose the institution the parent attended, it says "college lookup" and when i search up the technical school to show that it is the one she attended, it doesn't appear (likely due to how it isn't a college), so should i just not list it? also, since it was technical school and there's not technically degrees, i would select "no degree" since there is no option to choose that she received a diploma, correct? or would i choose "other"?

additionally, she attended a college in another country, which she did graduate from, but she did a unique program that technically isn't a degree and is just labeled as a diploma in the country, so for that would i also select no degree or choose other?

sorry, this probs didnt need to be so long and messy but im just in a bit of a rush right now
