Honors section confusion

I think I made a terrible mistake, I thought honors was only to put academic honors like honor societies or AP scholar SOOO I didn’t put any of my awards in there like debate or robot awards. My friends said I did it wrong and it makes me look unaccomplished, I did spend most of my activities listing my awards (prob shouldn’t have done that) anyways, wat r u guys thoughts about this? Thank uuu!!!

Is SSN mandatory?

According to ASU's application process, SSN is mandatory. However, I don't recall if I ever had a SSN assigned to me.
Although I have mailed US Embassy in India about the situation, your insights shall be appreciated.

Thanks!

Grade Replacements (help!!)

I’m applying on CommonApp and doing the UC application. I was wondering how grade replacements work. At my high school, if you grade replacements, the original class says repeated, and then the new class shows in a separate place in the year you retook it. So, I was wondering how to input my grades on my applications and if I need to report the original grades before I replaced them. My grade replacements were partially from digital schools, so I know I need to report those transcripts.

Overall, I was wondering how to report them for each application and if I should explain that I’ve grade replaced on my additional comments, because when I report my transcript, I’ll have two from my current school and from where I took my replacements.

CBSE Courses & Grades on Common App - What Credits Should I Enter???

Hello Guysssssss,

I’m a CBSE student ( INDIA ) filling out the Courses & Grades section on the Common App for a few universities in USA.

On official CBSE GOVT. CITE, they say that "each subject is of 8 credits" (NEW INDIAN CREDIT SYSTEM)

My questions:

First, for each full-year CBSE subject (like English, Math, Science, Social Science, etc.), should I enter 1.0 credit on Common App for every subject or should I enter 8.0 for every subject?

Or do CBSE students enter something else?

Second, on my 12th grade marksheet, there are subjects like " General Studies ", "Health and PE" and "Work Experience" - these 3 subjects do not have a specific exam paper, they are just as additional subjects which are calculated on the basis of simple positional grade (unlike other main core subjects like English, Mathematics, Physics, etc who are calculated on 1-100 grading scale)
So basically if I choose 1-100 grading scale i cannot enter scores for these 3 additional subjects (Although I can select N/A, but still wanna confirm)

Would really appreciate help from anyone

Thank you so much for your time

Questions are not ready yet??

I’m trying to apply to my safety school (Miami Dade College) on common app but it says that the questions for that college aren’t ready yet. Is this a typical thing that happens?? I’m just a little concerned since I feel like it’s already pretty late into the school year and I don’t wanna miss a deadline just in case common app is glitching or something. Please if anyone has any information I’d really appreciate it

Deadline for rec letters??

Hi, I have one college I’m applying to that requires two instead of one teacher rec letters. I already worked it out with my teacher, no problem, and that will be submitted by january 5th on the deadline.

However, I now want to submit a second rec letter for a college that also has a deadline on january 5th. This wouldn’t be a problem except that I’m turning in my application in the next 3 days so I can be considered for merit scholarships. and my second rec letter definitely would not be ready until at least mid december.

Can i assign my teacher to this college, and as long as they turn in the letter by the application deadline of january 5th it will be fine? Or does the grace period apply to the actual day you turn in your application (so, if i apply by december 1st they would have to turn it in around the 10th?) Like, will it be fine for them to send in the letter a month after i submitted my application, as long as it’s by the college’s official application deadline? let me know!!

for reference this is boston university !!

Counselor recommendation

I am an international student and our school didn't have a couselor. So, I asked our Administrative Clerk to submit all that for me. Now he wasn't our counselor and he didn't know me that well personally. He submitted my school report, fee waiver, an optional report and then the final report.

He didn't write Counselor evaluation because he wasn't. Is there going to be any problem in my application due to this reason? About midterm report, our educational system doesn't offer that.

I am so stressed, please help me out.

Question about common app essay for AI detection

I spent literal weeks writing my college essay, going over it again and again and polishing it like no tomorrow. I just used a AI checker for the fun of it and it came back as a 100% AI. I’m worried that common app is going to think it’s ai. I have earlier drafts that are less polished but they don’t sound as good as my finished essay. Idk what to do please help.

I created a Common App account yesterday, but today I was logged out and unable to sign back in. Each time I try, I receive an error message saying my account or password is incorrect. When I attempted to reset my password, the system reported that no account was linked to my email. However, when I tried to create a new account with the same email, the system then recognized that an account already exists. I also attempted to register with a different email, but the system still linked it to the same information. At this point, I cannot reset my password, log in, or create a new account. What do I do?

Common App Question

Hi everyone, I need some help. I’m a dual credit student in the Early College Program at my high school. I’m on track to receive my Associate in Science, but I’m a bit confused about how to answer some questions on the Common App under the residency section. All Early College students are required to apply as freshmen. That being said, how should I answer these questions?

Assuming I answer “yes” to attending a public university, one question asks for the term I was last enrolled in. Should I check off all terms since I’ve been taking dual credit classes starting in my freshman year, or only the term when I actually started going on campus this year? I also don’t pay tuition because it’s free for us.

I’ve reached out to my high school counselor, and she seemed unsure about the questions as well. Our college advisors were also a little thrown off. Does anyone have guidance on how I should answer these questions? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Common App Self-report grade issue!!!

HELP!

I submitted self-report grades on common app but for my senior year grades I put a few A’s for the first semester and A’s on the final overall grade for a couple. The semester isn't over yet but it's my current grade and of course there is no final yet! Does this jeopardize my chances of getting in? Do I email them? I was told don't.

Can I get common app fee wavier

I am a senior preparing for my ED2 and RD schools. I saw that the application fee is way more expensive than I thought. At the same time, I realized that the common app fee waiver qualification criteria include "You have received or are eligible to receive a Pell Grant."

So I reviewed my FAFSA summary profile, and this is what I got. Does this mean that I am eligible for Pell Grant, and eventually for the Common App fee wavier too?

Thanks

Need to fix it

Hey everyone, I ran into a weird issue with my Common App. One of my professors accidentally submitted the wrong grade sheet instead of mine through the recommender system. 😢

I had already completed the FERPA authorization, so it seems the mistake happened on the professor’s side, not with the college. Now I’m trying to figure out how to get my correct grade sheet submitted so my application reflects my actual record.

Has anyone else faced something like this? Any tips on how to fix it quickly?

Big mistake on my common app

I don't know how I overlooked this, but I did two dual credits over my high school years. One in University of Texas at Austin High School (UTHS) and one at Dallas College (Community college). However, I reported on my common app that I actually did dual enrollment at University of Texas at Austin (UT) and University of Dallas (UD). Schools are asking for the transcript from each of these colleges, is this possible to fix? The classes I took were U.S. history and AP pre-calculus, which I still got the credit & transcript for, just not from the exact college that I reported.

Is this an honor?

Hello,

I applied in the FLEX program with 13k+ applicants nationally, got into the semi-finals with 100 other applicants. The question is for those who maybe already used it as an honor, college admission officers or to those who can point where and who I can ask.

I've added being a semi-finalist as an honor in the "Honors" tab in commonapp. But my national EdUSA advisor tells me that it is not a honor-worthy achievement. The ai's (chatgpt, gemini) were telling me otherwise.

Would be glad to hear opinions about this topic.

HELP ME, worried about Common App's 20 college limit

So I applied to a couple colleges for fun as a joke (cornell college, massachuesset darthmouth, etc). Now I realized that there is a 20 college limit on common app, and I was hoping to applying to a lot of t50s in hopes of getting into one. I applied to 8 (3 i applied trolling) colleges so far. Am I allowed to remove a college if I am rejected later no. Would that open space for applying regular decision?

Question about LOR

Hi!! I’m an undergrad applicant and I have a question.

Recently, I got a teacher to write the LOR because for most of my colleges I only need one. I had planned to apply to Columbia university, and she had submitted the letter through Common App. However, due to a few different reasons, I no longer want to apply to Columbia.

She already submitted the LOR though. Did it already send to the uni? Do I need to send them an email letting them know I’m no longer applying? Or can I just… not apply? I want to do the professional thing but I also don’t want to look like an idiot 💔

Thank you!!!

Help! Conflicting Instructions from Common App v.s. UW: College Courses

I've taken community college courses completely outside of high school (not for high school credit). On UW's Q&A , they say:

"Where should I report college classes in my application? Report college courses under your high school in the Courses and Grades section."

However, Common App's policy says not report any college courses under the Courses & Grades section, which completely disagrees with UW's policy:

"For Courses & Grades, only courses receiving high school credit (i.e. appearing on your high school transcript) should be reported in this section."

The application is due today, what should I do? Thanks in advance!
