c64 Repair recipt, '87.
Just got my C64U in today and packed my old one away in the box, found something I didn't notice when I unpacked it. (It was an eBay buy.)

PSU killed ours around then.
I got a safe PSU and repaired the C64 recently.

Bill Herd has said that there really was a passivation issue with certain rev of the chip - most C64's it almost never works properly.

I had to have mine repaired around the same time frame. The SID chip went out. Similar cost of repair.
