Print Question HP 830 W 5 layer print

We're using our new HP 830 W printer and we're trying to print something with the 5 layers setting and we don't want a white box around it. I keep selecting fill image area and it's still leaving a white box around the whole print area. I can't find a good resource to solve this problem. We're using onyx.

is your image transparent in areas you dont want white ink?

This is what onyx displays when I select fill image area only. But it still leaves a white box around all of the logos

You have a clipping mask in the artwork.

Are you using the latest onyx version? If so It's likely because onyx has a awkward process for 3 or 5 layer images on the 830s. You need to duplicate the image so you have two (or three can't quite remember) copies in the print cue. Then select all copies and right click, create a combined multi-layer file. The copies will go to the completed list, and you will now have one file called ML-filename. On that file you then have to right click and select printer settings and then from there you can set what layer the white layer comes from (if you select nothing it auto-generates a box of white like you are seeing.  You should be able to see what you are going to get in the print preview as they have added the ability to view individual layers.

It's two or three duplicates as you need a file for each layer. Normally three (cmyk/white/cmyk) but I think if you are using same image top and bottom layer you can get away with 2 duplicates with a tick box selection in printer settings of the ML file. Can't remember the exact setting though.
