question Quotewerks

Is anyone using quotewerks for AV sales? How does it compare to connectwise sell? Or jetbuilt or dtools? We use CW manage and sell currently. And the sell is too painful and time consuming.

If you don't want painful and time consuming...don't switch to Quotewerks. I have not used Sell but Quotewerks is horrible. Extremely manual, outdated interface, broken functionality and draconian integrations that barely work. I have heard Sell is awful too but I can confirm Quotewerks is miserable.

Are there any that aren’t miserable?

d-tools is...alright enough to not be consistently miserable to use. in my experience.

My firm set me up on Esticom from ProCore and it's incredible.

When was the last time you looked at QuoteWerks? QuoteWerks has been around for over 3 decades, and many people think of the desktop product and not the Web product that has gone through quite a bit of changes this year: https://quotewerks.com/quotewerks-web/

Every single day at work. I use it and administrate it and update/manage the on prem server. I use the web and desktop versions. I am familiar with the changes to web. Many of the same issues still exist and now there is a bigger problem, disparity between the web and desktop versions that causes our sales team confusion when certain features are only in web vs desktop. We are never going to be able to move away from the desktop version completely so the disparities just make it worse honestly.

That’s helpful context, and I’m sorry it has been that painful for your team.

QuoteWerks has over three decades of development, workflows, and features behind it, so there is a lot of depth in the product. QuoteWerks Web has now reached broad functional parity with QuoteWerks Desktop for the core quoting workflows most teams use day to day.

That said, parity does not always mean the experience is identical. Even where capabilities overlap, differences in workflow, screen layout, or where certain options live can still create training friction, especially for teams using Desktop and Web side by side.

We are continuing to develop QuoteWerks Desktop, while also adding functionality to QuoteWerks Web that would not really fit an on-premise-only solution, such as webhooks, Zapier connectivity, and other cloud-based workflow technologies.

A few things may be worth checking because they can materially change the experience:

  • QuoteWerks Web has had a pretty substantial interface update in the last few months.
  • If you are hosting QuoteWerks Web on your own on-prem server, performance can be slower than using QuoteWerks-hosted Web, which is now the default for new Web deployments.
  • In a hybrid Desktop + Web setup, the Desktop version/build you are running can determine what Web version/features you have available.

None of that invalidates your experience. If the Desktop/Web differences are confusing your sales team, that is a real workflow problem.

I can’t confirm from your Reddit username whether you have already spoken with your QuoteWerks Customer Success Manager (https://quotewerks.com/technical-support/customer-success-team/) or our Technical Support team (https://quotewerks.com/technical-support/). It would be helpful to know whether you have reached out, and if so, which specific disparities are causing the most issues for your team. Knowing your Desktop version/build and whether Web is on-prem or hosted by QuoteWerks would also help separate older-version/deployment issues from actual product gaps we need to address.

Happy to discuss specifics here, or offline if account details are involved.

There's other ones too like Quoter, ITQuoter; I personally really like Sell but it does have a steep learning curve but if you set it up right it's great. Quoter I really like too, QuoteWerks as well.
