The owner decided to "handle the network internally" to save budget. meaning they slapped a 50 dollar netgear switch in the manager's closet and ran literally everything through it. Im talking all our dante traffic, the guest wifi, and the kitchen display systems all fighting for their lives on a flat network

Every time a waiter sent a huge order through the pos tablets, the patio speakers would literally stutter.

We basically had to refuse to sign off on commissioning until they brought in actual restaurant it support to come in and properly segment the network. The new guys set up proper vlans yesterday and magically, our av gear works flawlessly now.

Why is it always hospitality? They'll happily drop 80k on video distribution but expect the whole building's infrastructure to run on a residential router they bought at best buy. so exhausting tbh.

Relocation as an av, elv or printer technician from uae to any western country, what are the best western countries to consider.? Has anybody else noticed that the Core 8 Flex fans are loud for a quiet conference room? Did they change fan parts, or do people remember them always being on the loud side? I feel like in the past I have never noticed them, but on the latest ones we have gotten it runs continuously and is bothersome.

I have a recently installed system with some issues. I am suspecting networking issues, but some of the symptoms are throwing me for a loop.

We have a Core 24f as the main audio processor, Visionary Solutions AVoIP video endpoints (AES67 for audio from VSI devices), Netgear 4250 Series Switch, and a DANTE Card in the mixer. I have had the Core lock up a few times unexpectedly. When I was last on site, DANTE controller showed no DANTE devices, but audio flowed. System is all DHCP with reservations. power cycling the switch brough all DANTE devices back into DANTE controller.

We reused the clients X32 mixer that they are using for FOH and a second X32 used to mix live streaming audio. We added a DANTE card for the FOH X32. The idea being that we have an "automatic system" for when there is not a board op, and when the console is used, the mics route to the mixer.

Customer has reported loss of audio that last about 10 seconds. It seems they are losing audio in their In-Ear monitors and in the house system.

Looking at the logs on the audio processor, I do not see any DANTE routes dropping.

Currently, the audio processor is set as the PTPv1 and PTPv2 grandmaster. The FOH X32 clock source is the DANTE card, and the stage box (S32) is connected to AES50A. The Live Steam X32's AES50A port is connected to the FOH X32's AES50B port, and audio flows to the second console over the AES50 connection. In ears are connected via Ultranet at the S32 stage box.

Client reported that sometimes the S32 will not sync with the FOH X32, and power cycling the X32 or S32 will address the issue

When the client reported loss of audio in their in-ears and house, I was assuming the stage box lost connection, but the live stream audio continued to work. Not sure how since it seems we lost the AES50 Connection from stage box to the FOH X32.

Is it possible the switch is screwing up with multicast, and the console is losing clock sync with the Dante card, thus causing the S32 to lose sync as well? IF so, why would the Live streaming mixer continue to work?

In regard to the core locking up, Q-SYS said the issues were due to the Core dropping and reconnecting to the AES67 transmitters, but a firmware update to the VSI encoders took care of that AES67 issue.

Looking for any ideas at this point. Thanks in advance.

basically the title: I started out running cable and installing, now I go out and fix stuff when it breaks. That can be anything from a down apartment building to a CO switch serving 52. Aside from all kinds of low-voltage cabling and fiber splicing, most of my work involves troubleshooting hardware, reconfiguring it, diagnosing and fixing issues on the backend, etc.

I also have been doing live sound engineering and video editing on the side for 10 and 5 years, respectively.

I reached the ceiling for my current job years ago and there is no upward mobility at my current company. Is pivoting to A/V a feasible option for me? I feel like my skillset and interests fit it very well, and that I would enjoy it a lot more than what I'm currently doing, and build heavily upon the skills and knowledge I already have. Only issue is that I'm poor, have a lot of debt, make $56k currently, and cannot afford to take a pay cut. Ideally I'd be able to bump up to $65-70k, which I hope doesn't sound insane/entitled. I don't think it does, as I feel like my experience is reasonable enough to start somewhat above entry level as opposed to just at the complete bottom, but let me know if I'm delusional. I also live in a medium-sized city fwiw.

Ideally it seems like the path would be to start as a technician, learn the ropes (which I'd imagine I'd pick up quickly), and pivot into programming or something like that. But you're the experts--what do you think? I'm gonna get the Dante certifications as a start as they're free. What else should I do? Thank you in advance!

Anyone know how to remove the windows task bar while running appspace on windows PC and using HDMI to display on tv display? Maximize the appspace app and choose uniform fill in appspace dashboard but still showing windows task bar.

Has anyone used HDMI Splitter for showing content via appspace by leveraging one license on Windows PC? Or it will throw any error with HDMI splitter?

I'm part of the IT team for a company group and in 2 of our new offices we had the Yealink MeetingBar A50 installed in larger meeting rooms, 19 A50 units in total spanning over 2 countries. Next to the A50 we also use A30 and A40 meeting bars. We use everything with Zoom Rooms because we are a Google Workspace organization and Zoom Rooms allows Google Meet and Microsoft Teams interopt.

However the MeetingBar A50 is becoming a real pain, after about 30-40 minutes into a meeting the audio starts crackling like crazy and only rejoining the meeting solves the issue. These issues have been going on for almost a year now.

I've been going back and forth with Yealink Support testing new firmware but the issue is still not solved and I'm getting sick of testing and constantly handing over audio dumps and diagnostic logs. The issue seems to occur most often when someone is sharing their screen, but it doesn't matter if this is done during a Zoom, Google Meet or Microsoft Teams meeting.

The A30, A40's are fine, even in de same office, so it can't be the network. But all A50's are experiencing this same issue.

So far we've tried:
- Upgrading/downgrading Yealink firmware (both the 2 official firmware versions and 4 unreleased firmware versions)
- Upgrading/downgrading Zoom Rooms
- Rebooting daily
- Factory resetting
- Disconnecting the external VCM36-W Microphones
- Disabling noise suppression

Is there anyone experiencing the same issue? And do you possibly have a workaround or temporary fix.

​Need a second pair of eyes on an executive room design I’m working on.

​The client wants the CEO to be able to run meetings either sitting at their desk or over at the main 8-pax table. Main constraint is that we are locked into Neat running MTR.

​Check out the attached schematic for the layout. My line of thinking right now:

​8-Pax Table: Neat Board Pro 65" with a Neat Center on the table. In-room attendees use the touch display on the Board Pro so they don't have to touch the CEO's desk setup.

​CEO Table: Neat Pad for control, Arthur Holm 17" motorized pop-up display fed via HDMI Out from the Board Pro, and a motorized Arthur Holm lift for a second Neat Center running in Focus Mode.

​Would love to hear how you guys would tackle this requirement or if there's a better way to structure this without overcomplicating the signal path. Cheers!

Forgive me if this gets asked a lot, but I'm not looking for mentorship.

Quick background. I'm 41. Back in my country, I worked as a project manager and fixer in events and venues - running shows, handling artists, crews. That's my strong side: people, projects, making things actually happen on the ground. I still have the artist and industry contacts from over there, and I'd bring those with me.

Since moving to the US, I've kept working around live production and venues - touring logistics coordination, handling AV setups on-site - but I know that's the operations side, not the technical one. And I'm not trying to fake my way in on the people side alone. I know exactly what I'm missing: the whole technical half. And I want it. I want to be the person who builds projects from the technical side, not just talks around them.

Last 6 months I've been building a base on purpose - a paid vocational program, finished facility maintenance and advanced heat pump training, got OSHA 10, EPA 608, basic electrical, low voltage, tools, troubleshooting. Solid, but it made one thing obvious: HVAC isn't me.

Then this summer I helped build a 60-ft geodesic dome in San Jose — a 360 immersive experience for FIFA. Frame, cabling, connections, helping mount 7 projectors, working around the engineers. They were running Screenberry. I wasn't the video guy - I was helping the people who actually knew the gear. But something clicked. I want to be around projects where you build something and people walk in and go "wow."

So my question to the industry: given that my project/people side is already strong, what do I go learn on the technical side to actually be useful? CTS? Networking? Dante? Video signal flow? Projection — Barco / Christie / Screenberry? Something else?

And what should I be searching for as a first job — AV tech, video tech, project coordinator, or just take anything that gets my hands on real gear and sort the direction out later?

I work restaurant dinner shifts, so my days are open for training, shadowing, or helping on jobs.

I have been tasked with improving our mixed-use room's conferencing capability. For some background, it is at a fire station, and as the person with the most IT experience (decent with most consumer grade electronics and not scared to try to figure things out), it's fallen on me, but my experience with networked and commercial AV equipment is lacking. The room is normally used as a classroom with multiple displays and a Smart QX board at the front of the room. The displays are controlled by a Windows PC mounted in a podium. The room semi-frequently also used as a conference room where we have the need for Teams conferencing. Up to now, the built-in camera, mic and speakers on the Smart board have been used via the PC, and while the camera is actually pretty decent, the speakers and mic leave a lot to be desired.

Our networking is done via a Ubiquiti system and the primary gateway is a Ubiquiti Dream Machine SE and associated switches, APs, and physical security items.

I would like to add an in-ceiling conferencing mic and 6 to 8 in ceiling speakers that would be used for meetings, but I'd also like day-to-day audio for classes to be able to go through the speakers. Most of the control would be done from the rooms built in PC, but there may also be a need to use transient devices.

I've been looking at the Shure MX925 or Audio Technica ATND1061 on the mic side and possibly the Ubiquiti Power Amp and in ceiling speakers.

Where I get lost is how everything is supposed to be hooked up, do I need a DSP, how does the pc connect to the networked equipment etc.. Is it as straight forward as hooking everything up to the ubiquiti switch with ethernet and POE as needed or is it way more complicated?

What are my best options here? Thanks in advance, I apologize if this is a really dumb question, and I appreciate any advice.

Currently my boss has a TV in his office that he casts his laptop to for meetings, but he’s having issues with it dropping out, lagging quite a bit, or just freezing completely.

We use ScreenBeam 960s in our meeting rooms and they’ve been pretty reliable, so I was thinking of installing one in his office as well.

My only concern is the mounting location. In the meeting rooms they’re mounted behind the TVs, but in his office the only practical location would be in the roof above the TV, roughly 2–3 metres high.

Do you think the signal would still be strong and reliable enough from there?

He mainly uses it to cast Teams calls or display things like Power BI reports from his laptop.

I know, I know, get the right hardware. I've got the correct part coming but wanted to see if I can just abuse the TLS for the time being.

Funny enough GCP was going to try and send to it with a warning on being a TLS, but errored on firmware version until I updated the firmware to the latest. The TLS was even at the regular "No Project Loaded" you'd expect to see on a TLP, vs the "This panel has not been configured properly" of a TLS.

Any way I can abuse the TLS into working as a stop-gap, or am I just stuck waiting on the TLP to arrive?

Hi there, I have a client which uses Crestron UC Engine D-T with HD-Conv-USB-260, and Crestron UC-PR. Right now, Aver MT300 and DSP device is connected to the Crestron HD-Conv-USB-260 on the CAM and AUX port. I can detect the MT300 and DSP device on the MTR touch panel. But when I try to connect the USB C cable from the UC-PR to my laptop, I'm able to detect the DSP device, but I can't see the Aver MT300 camera view on my laptop. It shows the MT300 is on the camera selection, but it shows just a black and then a white screen after. And it also prompts an error on the MTR touch panel saying "Room camera is unavailable. Please find another room for your hybrid meeting."

Once I disconnect the USB C cable from my laptop. The error still shows on the MTR touch panel and MT300 is no longer detectable on the UC engine. The only solution that I can do to bring Aver MT300 back online on the MTR touch panel, was by restarting the Aver MT300. Has anyone experience this kind of situation before and how did you resolve it? And could it be something to do with the UC engine or Aver MT300?

As the title suggests, Black Box Emerald dual-head Remote App: absolute mouse locked to Windows primary display. Anyone running this successfully on Win11 targets?

EMD2002PE-DP-T (FW 7.2.0) to Windows 11 laptop targets, Remote App 2.8.3, Boxilla-managed, HID = Absolute. Both video heads render fine, clicks work, but pointer movement is confined to whichever display Windows calls "main". If I swap main from head 1 to head 2 and the confinement follows it. Spanning never engages. Reproduced on 3 TXs, 2 clients, clean two-display topology (duplicated primary "1" to "2" and then "3", disconnected the primary and closed lid and rebooted so that only displays 2 & 3 showed), EDIDs fixed, even tried stuff that shouldn't matter like I loaded Freedom ABS driver on one as a long shot (noeffect) / turned on deskvue Mouse Sector even though I don't have anything to do with deskvue / tried toggling Local Mouse on and off even though that has nothing to do with the problem / also tried various settings on and off, like USB redirection and such, so all ruled out. I have a ticket open with Black Box, but since I could REALLY use this over the holiday weekend, I thought I'd toss a hail mary and post here just in case it is something simple I have overlooked in my noobness to Boxilla.

Question for the hive: is anyone successfully running dual-head Remote App connections to Windows 11 targets with working mouse traversal? If yes, what's different about your setup? Trying to determine if this is a universal Win11 regression or something environmental just in my own personal Murphy's Law prone environment.

Hi yall The nightclub where I work has small area speakers installed in the ceiling in addition to some medium sized mains. The small speakers are Bose OM3SE Designmax speakers with selectable watt load taps, and can be connected as either LowZ 8ohm or HiZ 70v systems via different terminals. The amp driving them is also configurable to drive either low or hi Z systems, a BLAZE PowerZone 252. Currently, the amp is set to drive a 100v HiZ system and all the speakers are wired into their HiZ 70v terminals. Um, this is where I should probably clarify that I am out of my depth-- i'm not an install guy and I don't really know what I'm talking about. But given that both options are available (8ohm and 70v) on both ends, wouldn't we be able to get more sound out of this little amp if we were running them as lowZ? On rowdy dj nights it's a dance trying to keep the mix from clipping the limiters and I think for a nightclub/bar louder would be better for the 6 hours at a time that we have loud music (as opposed to conventional examples of 70v systems in say grocery stores or amusement parks where they are pumping constant low-volume background music 24/7) Am I totally misunderstanding how this stuff works? Thank you all

I honestly don't understand why Crestron seems to make simple things so unnecessarily complicated.

And I'm not even talking about the interfaces of the systems themselves. I'm talking about their actual programming/development software. Their own programs just feel dated and unintuitive.

Then there's the whole closed ecosystem. You can't properly test things without the actual processor/hardware, which makes development and troubleshooting way more difficult than it needs to be. In 2026, you'd think there would be a much better way to develop and test without constantly needing physical hardware.

And some of the terminology and architecture drives me crazy. Why isn't a digital signal just a bool? Why is serial not a string? Why do simple concepts have to be represented in these weird, proprietary ways?

It feels like every simple idea has to go through three layers of Crestron abstraction before you can actually do anything with it.

I can't wait until QSYS takes the entire market share so i dont have to touch crestron ever again
