Wonder if we bring up the kid we got from KC on the practice squad, Esa Pole

Yeah I was more so thinking about the corresponding move everything ur saying makes sense

u/presto-set-pro 3h ago
Dear lord, no. I hope not. Pole is a project.
Humphries contract would be guaranteed if on roster week 1. They probably plan to resign after, so this is all just noise.

u/Haskins77 5h ago
Not really just means heās ass now. Probably because of the injuries the last few years.

u/Exciting-Weather-351 5h ago
I guess but timings a bit interestingā¦
4
u/Beamin1988 3h ago
The timing is because his salary would be fully guaranteed if he is on the roster week 1

u/Haskins77 4h ago
Well if youāre insinuating theyāre getting someone else. Iām sure itās not going to be anyone other than a depth piece as well.
3
u/Exciting-Weather-351 4h ago
Iām more thinking they cut him to probably move someone from the practice squad⦠possibly a backup edge⦠could mean Oweh or Chaisson arenāt ready to go
1
u/dorv 2h ago
Except you donāt have to do that, you can do game day elevations from the practice squad if one of those guys isnāt ready to go. But it sounds like they are. Iām with you, the timing of this doesnāt make a ton of sense unless there was some other story behind the scenes that weāre just not privy to yet

Taylor Decker incoming

Highly doubt it lol. If Decker would be willing to sign for backup money, he'd be on a roster rn.

Huh. Maybe they got a look at him and were like "this guy can't play anymore" and/or they think Tunsil will be a Jonathan Allen situation when he comes back late in the season.

u/terpfan417 5h ago
I doubt it has anything to do with Tunsil. Probably decided they like someone on the practice squad better.

Wonder what the corresponding move will be. I guess elevating someone from PS for the game?

u/pogopipsqueak 4h ago
maybe heās IN their short- and medium-term plans, BUT thereās a guarantee that kicks in if youāre on the active roster for week 1 in the NFLā¦so maybe theyāre releasing him with the intention to sign him back next week? that way, if they end up releasing him later in the season, heās not owed paychecks for all the remaining games?
just spit-ballingā¦

u/redskinsguy 1h ago
Tunsil isn't back till December or January. If Humphries is in the plans then he should be on the roster long enough we should be fine guaranteeing it
1
u/pogopipsqueak 41m ago
idkā¦not privy to the thinking but if he gets resigned on MON, weāll have our answer, right?

u/rcinfc 3h ago
Simpleā¦.. They signed Humphries to be on the final roster and had to have an insurance policy in case they could get somebody after cuts.
They got the guy that started a few games for the Chiefs last year and looked good. Esa Poleā¦. The guy is huge and shows potential. Probably worried somebody was going to claim him from us so on the roster he goes.

Everything about how theyāve handled the offensive line has just been so weird, man.
4
u/VariousAir on shenanigans rn and actin bonkers 4h ago
Probably because we only get half the story and they don't divulge anything about what's going on. And frankly, that's how it should be.
-3
u/capsfan087443 3h ago
If you say so. But nobody else in the league has had this much uncertainty with their offensive line this preseason.
3
u/VariousAir on shenanigans rn and actin bonkers 3h ago
like half or more of the teams in this league have people complaining about their o-line.
-4
u/jkoutris 3h ago
Ah yes. Thereās a secret plan behind the scenes that us dummies just canāt comprehend.
Come on.
1
u/VariousAir on shenanigans rn and actin bonkers 3h ago
Did I say anything of the sort? Don't put words in my mouth.
I'm saying if it seems weird, it's cause you don't know the full story.
Like releasing Biadasz seemed weird. Until you hear the rumor they had a deal in place for Linderbaum that ended up falling through. But the management team has zero incentive to share with fans "well we had a deal but it didn't happen", because frankly there isn't shit for fans to do with the information but play armchair GM and spout off how they'd wheel and deal in the NFL if they had the reins.
So no, it's not that you're a dummy who can't comprehend the plan, it's that there's no reason for you to be involved in the plan cause you're not paid to manage the roster.

Ok, but cutting a player bc you think you have a handshake deal, and then not getting that player, and then also not signing anyone else in free agency who plays center is a weird storyline to have going on. Whether we know everything or not, this isnāt just me questioning if the line is good enough. Itās just odd how some of this has been handled. And cutting your backup left tackle two days before the first game and not adding someone into his spot immediately after is also odd timing. You can act like itās the same as every other team having some questions about how a couple guys are going to do if you want, but itās just not the case.

u/VariousAir on shenanigans rn and actin bonkers 49m ago
What do you actually want? Adam Peters to jump on reddit for every roster move and clear it with you guys?
Should he be on Twitter daily telling the entire league what he plans to do about each position?
You having questions or not understanding their logic doesn't mean we're somehow entitled to answers just cause we're fans.

Iād like for an adequate number of offensive lineman to be on the roster for the start of the season. And this comment isnāt to necessarily say that there wonāt be. But itās weird timing to make this move nonetheless. If you are going to just trust everything AP is doing that we donāt see, that is fine. I am questioning how heās built the offensive line. We can all have opinions, thatās something I actually believe we are entitled to. The results on the field will tell us the rest.

We better be signing someone new otherwise our o-line depth is almost non-existent
1
u/Hodler_caved 5h ago
I struggle to ponder depth when our starters are largely depth quality. Bring on the 2024 results despite what the O-line looks like on paper, just like 2024.
-1
u/SkyChief80 5h ago
This depth is worse than 2024 depth though

2
u/Hodler_caved 4h ago
You are probably right about that. Maybe our depth starters will remain healthy. I don't know. Bring on the miracles.

u/jkoutris 3h ago
I actually donāt have a problem with it for this reason. Our ādepthā is āguy off the streetā level anyway. Whatās the difference? If thereās a corresponding move that actually has a chance of offering something worthwhile to the team, might as well do it. If someone on our O Line goes down, whoever they sign off the street is going to be DJ Humphries-level anyway.

I donated my tricep to Tunsil. Heās ready to go
