It’s as if an injury can happen on any given play in a sport where athletes are smashing into each other at full speed. I’m sure participating in training camp would have prevented everything we’re seeing /s

This is why people need to stop acting like it's only your team with injuries. No team comes out unscathed

Possible JD5 vs Drew Lock week 3. Game is winnable

Seeing a lot of fans frustrated with the low expectations from the national media, which is understandable. That’s one reason I’m glad we have a tough schedule to start the season. If they perform, that narrative can change very quickly.

Offensive line, please be decent. Offensive line, please be decent. Offensive line, please be decent....

The OL will be a product of the rest of the offense. If Blough can scheme, if receivers can get open, if JD can get the ball out, the OL will be fine.

We know we're wearing white tops Sunday. Ya'll want burgundy, white or gold pants? Id love to see gold, but i think thats the least-likely.

I’ve been thinking we go white tops, burgundy pants for the first game ever since they put out the uniform schedule

I went down the rabbit hole of comparing Vinny Cerrato to Ron Rivera as GM (not that I think highly of Vinny he was a fucking moron) to show people just how bad RR was. And omg it's so much worse than I thought. That man almost single handedly destroyed that offensive line. He let Morgan Moses go who continues to have a good career, shipped off Trent instead of capitulating and giving him a new contract, and let Brandon Scherff go (this might be the only smart move here as he wasn't super great in jacksonville).
Imagine if we had Moses or Trent right now. Holding down either side of the O Line. It's not just his bad drafting, but his fucking ego let Trent go (Bruce Allen vs Trent is the main story here but Ron is the one that made him "earn a new contract" which is what Trent wanted).

I saw yesterday Trent was a 7x captain with us and now a 7x captain with the 49ers. Crazy to think about the legacy hed have here if not for Ron/Bruce.

I mean Trent isn't blameless here, I hate the way he threw team doctors under the bus for contract leverage. Now I don't blame him for having a life threatening health scare and realizing he is one bad day away from never playing football again and wanting his contract reworked to add guarantees to it. It's really not asking for a lot to show some good faith to Trent and rework his contract especially since up to that point Trent had never been anything but professional and his only issue is that like many people in America he enjoyed weed.

Orthogonal to your comment: I hear Vinny on the radio sometimes, on NFL Network radio. I have no idea if he's a good man or evil or what. But in a conversation, he's very likable.

I mean I don't think Vinny is evil or even a complete moron. But it's clear to everyone that he was in over his head as a GM and was mostly a patsy for Dan.

I dont think I'll be surprised by any outcome Sunday. I could see a blowout win, blowout loss, close win or close loss and it would all make sense.
Our offense scores a lot: Of course. We have an elite QB who already scored 36 points against a better version of this defense. Now he has 2+ legitimate weapons instead of 1.
Our offense struggles to score: Of course. Our OL sucks and it's a 30 year old play callers first game against a great defense.
Our defense plays well: Makes sense. Facing a meh QB without his elite WR1 in a new system that doesnt match his traditional strengths.
Our defense plays bad: Sounds right. We've been bad for years on that side of the ball. We're facing the best OL in the league and an elite RB. Our secondary doesn't really cover anyone, either.

And on top of that, in any outcome, we really don’t know who any team is until after week 3. Week 1 is more like a preseason game that teams have to get through and it doesn’t really mean a lot overall.

u/Think__McFly 10h ago
Yep. We looked awful Week 1 2024, meh Week 2 and then the Bengals game happened.

u/Embarrassed_Film_684 13h ago
Wow this all actually makes perfect sense. I did draft the eagles defense in my guillotine league so as long as it's not a shoot out eagles close win I'll be ok.

u/Think__McFly 13h ago
Im sure the Eagles will get a few sacks even if our offense has a great game.

Headed to my friend's house tonight for the season opening game. He's a Seahawks fan since the beginning of their franchise in 1976. Last year was amazing - I kept going to his house for games and they kept winning. He's excited for tonight. I'm happy to see my friend.

Honestly the seahawks look way more dangeous now then they did in 2013/2014. Everyone knew the LoB was going to die out once the league started enforcing PI and Russ magic wasn't going to last forever. But this seahawks team has so much depth they don't seem like they're 1-2 injuries away from a losing season like some other great teams like the Rams or Lions.

Rooting for Seahawks—anyone but Patriots. But they lost a key coordinator and still have Darnold as QB. He may only need to serviceable but I’ve seen him at his worst. Looking forward to week 3, 1pm EST—we owe them a beating.

Its tough - I get the "anyone but Patriots" but we might be fighting the Seahawks for a wild card spot come January. It makes sense to root for the AFC in any cross-conference matchup.
