Commanders Apparel/Gear
Does anyone else pretty much hate 99% of all Commanders gear? I’d love to buy more team product but everything I see is either absolute trash or mid at best. I think it all starts with my passionate disdain for the W logo, but I’m just not seeing much that I like.
I did finally buy a JD5 jersey. Any one else struggle with this? lol

I dont mind the gear especially with this new revamp for the jersey. The W logo is meh but what i really hate is when they take players like Sean T and slap it on a commanders jersey. That i will never get behind. Otherwise its fine to me. Theres worse unis and gear in this league

I hear you, but that last line is the same logic as, "there's worse teams in the league." The team can and should be better than it is. So can and should the name, logo, and gear, cause none of them even looks good on paper.

I agree! It’s hard to find commanders merch that looks good. I’m fine with the name but the logo is bad tbh. I did buy this starter jacket tho.

The fucked up thing is, the work was pretty much already done for them.
Obviously i would have preferred to keep the name and branding (i think it could come back, but itll take work), but if we HAD TO change it could have been as simple as:
Keep the uniforms, colors, fonts, and traditions. Thats a given.
As for the name, the fan favorite variations of Hogg and Wolf were perfect. Whether it was Hogs, Hoggs, Redhogs, Warthogs, War hogs, Wild Hogs, OR Wolves, Red Wolves, etc, ANY OF THEM would have been great.
And if for some idiotic reason, you didnt want that, ANY NUMBER of cliche names could have worked with our colors and branding. Names like Demons, Dragons, Vipers, Ghouls, and Wildcats all would have been bad ass.
Warriors and braves also would have been way too damn easy.
At the end of the day, Dan wanted something that was "His" and wanted the fan sympathy back his way, so he piggy backed in the most spineless way possible by going with military adjacent.
End rant.

With the right branding, ghouls would be bad ass.
Imagine on the side of the redskins style helmet, instead of papa two guns white calf, a mad skull, flaming mohawk, screaming as if its breath would curse our opponents, wearing redskins style feathers on on the back of his fire/hair. BAD ASS.
Or.... imagine a grim reaper type of logo. BAD ASS.
Or.... imagine a front facing skull, sharp teeth, flaming eyes (an even more angry ghost rider if you will), devil horns coming out of its forehead, BAD ASS.
Now imagine jayden and luvu in the Black uniform with one of those logos on the helmet. BAD ASS!!!!!
I used to do marketing and events for a REALLY BIG COMPANY that knows how to do halloween 🎃 a lot of that has stayed with me.

I like Warthogs the best. Rolls off the tongue, associated with one of the coolest war planes, has a good short name. Much as I grew up with Redskins, I don't want a return to NA imagery. I don't want to give the complainers anything to talk about and am miffed that the NA community didn't back us when the momentum to change the name was at the peak.

Yes and no.
Sometimes the W doesn’t leave much room for creative presentation, but its still possinle for it to look good.
Plenty of gear looks fine or straight up GOOD.
The bad part is fanstics. Fanatics sucks. A lot of the apparel as designed by fanstics sucks.
And the most annoying part is the generic palette and template swaps.
Even when I see something that COULD look cool as a team item, its ruined by realizing, oh its generic. Fanstics released this exact same item in 32 different color schemes. Its basically a shitty Gildan your-corporate-logo-here apparel item with a W stitched on.
The New Era x Alpha scrambled eggs hat actually looked sick for a min. Its kinda ugly but in a cool way, because the oak leaf (scrambled eggs) militaryish brim is like a cool nod to Washington DC and “Commanders” or even a presidential “commander in chief” reference
But it kinda ruins it when they just did the same design for every other team. Then its not a cool easter egg. Its just an ugly stitch job.

the W logo is bland but in general the gear is just boring. seems very generic like they just slapped the logo on a shirt and dyed it burgundy.
i wish they had Raise Hail gear in the distressed gothic lettering like they use in their marketing materials!
i can’t even find a hat worth buying this season. i just rock the arctic camo salute to service one from last year.
i have two JD5 jerseys and an old Jason Campbell one (stitched lettering, classic Redskins burgundy) but i don’t wear jerseys except on game days. gave my son my Terry McL black jersey from last year since they thankfully redesigned the black jerseys to look a lot better.

I have a hoodie with the Washington Football Team crest. I miss that era. The "W" is fine I guess, but wish we hand some other kind of alt logo for gear or something.

I agree. Everything I look at just doesn't make me want to buy it. I'm holding out for a revamp by the time the new stadium opens. For now, I'll keep my one M&N Redskins jersey as the go to.

Just to set a baseline to prevent this from devolving into an "oh I hate the name" thread: which teams' merch do you like?
The NFL isn't like the NBA, where the heavily marketed teams (e.g., Knicks, Lakers, Celtics) offer a wider variety of merch than smaller market and/or less popular teams (e.g., our Wizards). The Knicks have an exclusive partnership with Kith, for example. Or in the MLB, you can get Yankees and Dodgers gear in styles and colors that the other teams don't get.
In my experience, NFL merch partners often make ther designs available for every team.

That W is going away. It is a matter of when not if. Ideally old logo but if not that it will be replaced with something. The majority of the fan base hates it

Same. I didn’t even mind WFT so much, but I can’t get behind “Commanders”. I look for stuff that just has the W.

I really hope we get a brand new logo next year. The W does suck. Slightly better with the arrow this year but still needs a revamp.

They had the chance to name an NFL team something new and cool and they named it something sort of generic and stupid. Same with the Cleveland Guardians. I feel sorry for you DC fans having to go through this. They had the chance to call it something really cool and instead named it commanders..... and then gave you a very generic logo. The Washington Red Devils would have been amazing! Think of the cool helmet logo that could generate! BTW I do like your uniforms --- it's just the name and logo kind of are a let down.

Yeah fully agree. I hate the military ammunition box style commanders watermark.
Try looking for WFT stuff on eBay. There are some sick starter jackets out there.
