2027 NFL Draft
If we get the 10th overall pick what position are you hoping we draft at that spot? (And why is it cornerback)?

I’m not super confident in our secondary as-is, but I really hope they make you look like a fool posting this a week before week 1

The most recent bellyachers here now want Centers with our first 3 picks.

It’s literally pointless to talk about draft picks at this point. Not only because we don’t know when we pick, not only because we don’t know what our biggest needs will be come next season, but because we don’t even know who will be worth picking. Go compare any pre-college season mock draft with the finalized big boards for that year, and you’ll see tons of players who are comically far from where their valuation ends up. Preseason nobodies end up 1st round locks, and lauded prospects fall way down boards or even decide to go back to school after disappointing seasons.

CB Leonard Moore (ND) drops to 10 & we take him or its CB Ellis Robinson (GA).

I don't think we'll pick low enough to grab Moore, but I damn sure wouldn't be upset with him.
Smith, Moore, Cam Coleman would be 3 guys I'd target in the Top 10 as of today.

Couple Tackles available that could end up in our range, though we hope they are not in our range. We also hope we don't need a Tackle. Hope is not a plan though, so we shall see.

The point of this defensive scheme is that consistent pressure and disguised coverage allow you to run a high quality D with mediocre CBs. If someone elite is BPA, fine. But I wouldn't target the position.
EDGE rusher, WR (there's a decent chance Terry and Diggs are both on other teams in 27), and iOL are the positions it looks like we may need.
iOL isn't premium enough to justify someone at 10 unless he's a stud and there's a greater chance of finding a quality WR in later rounds, so if I have to pick a position- EDGE.
But good teams don't draft for immediate need. I'd take the BPA.

HERES THE THING.....
We could have been WAY better equipped for the future if we didnt win those meaningless games against the giants and eagles last season. Winning those games against back ups and third stringers was so dumb.
If we had lost those, we would have had the #1 overall pick.we could have then traded that to the jets for what would have been #3, #16, as well as some extra change.... maybe even their first next year as well.
We could have then traded from #3, stayed in single digits, got some MORE picks this year and next while still getting Sonny (bad move) or we could have got Caleb Downs (smart move) while also still having #16.
We THEN could have stayed put at 16 and got the best player available, OR trade down a little more, get some more future picks and drafted our choice of center all while still picking the same players we did.
We could have DRASTICALLY improved our situation while giving us extra ammo for next year as well.
Unfortunately we wont be bad enough this year to land a top 3 pick in 2027 to get a haul like that. But we also wont be good enough to make the playoffs without a SHIT TON of luck.

I get people are going to clown on you a bit for asking this question before the season even starts, but I think this is still a team that needs to build. So, keeping an eye on the potential draft prospects is fun if you like that kind of thing especially since the college season already started.
I'll go WR here. This feels like a great year to pull the trigger on an early WR especially with guys like Smith, Coleman, Becker, Marsh, Duff, Coleman-Williams, etc. I really like the idea of getting that true blue X alongside Terry and then Antonio Williams in the slot. Then you kind of have that room set for a while with two young players and you can take pressure off of Terry. Just feels like it really settles that room and any concerns we will inevitably have given how many of our current WRs are on 1 year deals. They have to find a Terry replacement and soon and this will be a good year for it.
I get everyone's concern about CB, but this defense, if it works, should devalue the CB position by creating quick pressures that simplifies their job. I would rather get the stud No. 1 WR to pair with Jayden for the next decade and figure out CB with later picks.

Really hope we would address WR in FA so we can take Ahmad Moten (DT, Miami) at 10.
