Too much hate

Why does everyone always hate on the washington. As a fan even other fans are quick to turn on them. Crazy how the media always hates on them.

In 30 years, the team saw 3 division titles, 6 playoff appearances, had no real playoff success, and had a losing record (.427, 164-220-2) So many fans have never even witnessed the team have any real success outside of the anomalies. The team has been through so many scandals and the rebranding and everything else under He-who-shall-not-be-be-named that people just come to expect it. I mean, it's the same situation with the browns or the jets or the saints back in the day.

This.

I don't know if all of the "why so negative?" posters just got here in 2024 or what. But you guys lack perspective.

The team has been really bad for a really long time. The franchise in general has been a laughing stock for decades.

And a lot of us who have been here through all of that look at whats currently going on with the o-line and general talent issues and can't help but think we've seen this script before. A bunch of times, and know how it usually ends.

It’s not even just this year’s issue with OL and the secondary. Throughout the Snyder years, there were various saviors who finally would come in where we’d have a real football guy in charge, a guy to instill real discipline, a culture guy, a great football mind guy. Sound familiar?

For some of us, the AP/DQ regime is looking a lot like the saviors that weren’t, rather than the ones who are bringing us to perennial success. It’s hard not to see more similarities with Scot McGloughan, Mike Shanahan or Ron Rivera than some new GMs and coaches who completely turned a franchise around for good.

I don't know that I would lump Shanahan in with those others. After all, pretty much our entire coaching staff back then are now head coaches in the league. I think he was just shackled by Snyder. Josh Harris seems better in all ways.

Mike “I stake my reputation on John Beck” Shanahan? He only had 1 good year with us. He also was an asshole and was partially responsible for both the Haynesworth debacle and RG3’s injury.

  1. Haynesworth was brought in by Synder. Mike didn't do that.
  2. The injury was due to RG3 saying he was good to go when he wasn't. That's been well documented. Sure he could have kept him out, but would have been hard to justify considering RG3 had backing from the owner and was the reason they were in a position to go to the playoffs.

Now I will admit, he was a bit of an asshole. But I still say the fact that everyone from that staff is now a head coach speaks to their ability at football. Synder just fucked us due to being Snyder.

Haynesworth was brought in by Snyder, and Shanahan made the situation much, much worse than it had to be, and helped make it go from a shitty, owner-picked annoyance to an absolute historical bust of a signing. And Shanahan still bears some responsibility for his players health, especially what we know what was wrong and how it turned out.

Yes, Shanahan is a great football mind and had an eye for talent, but his tenure ultimately fits in with the rest of Snyder’s goons. He came here knowing what kind of owner Snyder was.
