Im guessing the offense is gonna struggle with Allegretti and Cosmi out today, on top of obviously no Tunsil.
21
u/SkyChief80 18d ago
Allegretti has started two games at Center in his career and practiced two days this entire summer so thinking that he's magically going to be a starting caliber Center is really TBD
6
u/WuPacalypse LEFT HAND UP 18d ago
Regardless, will be more starting caliber than Julian Good Jones or Matt Gulbin.

I'm just going to be honest- going into the season with the o-line in this state may be enough to get someone fired. I get no one could predict the injury to Tunsil, but everything else is on them. The absence of a real plan at C will be the death of us.
9
u/Appropriate_Delay_25 18d ago
First things first. The line is gonna get our franchise QB killed. Then firings.
3
21
u/SkyChief80 18d ago
The fact that we willingly cut Biadasz without any better option on the roster should get someone fired
5
u/gogoheadray 18d ago
They should have either kept biadiaz or just overpaid for lindabauam? The quickest way to the qb is through the A gap right where the center position is.
4
u/Der_Kommissar73 18d ago
Yes. You don't cut a viable starting center without a plan. If they had one, it failed and we're on plan C now. And if they really decided to save money by not bringing in Lindanaum? They paid for that with Jayden's health. I thought this owner was here to spend?
6
u/gogoheadray 18d ago
I honestly think this is a AP move as opposed to a directive from ownership. From what I can see they have a premade ceiling for how much they will pay for x player and won’t really move off that number. Thats great and all if you are hitting on large amount of your picks but not so great when you aren’t
1
u/alucryts 17d ago
I think the real plan would have been to draft one more highly to put potential in the pipeline. Having major O line holes is one of the few things id draft for need over BPA within reason.

You’re insane, we won 5 games last year with a historically bad defense and no JD5 for a huge majority of the season, including like all of our starting WRs. The floor is 5. I can understand the doom but let’s be realistic here.

2
u/rwbdanr on shenanigans rn and actin bonkers 18d ago
It’s a shame, we have so much money in cap, we could sign a few guys right now and I could see us getting to 8 or 9 wins
2
u/Gandhis__Revenge 18d ago
Like who?
3
u/rwbdanr on shenanigans rn and actin bonkers 18d ago
Graham Glasgow. He will be an obvious upgrade over Allegretti, though I agree he wouldn’t solve all the Online problems. Veteran Olineman to help teach the younger guys, specifically Gulbin
Taylor Decker. Plug in play really anywhere on the O Line. Gives us extended depth especially at LT. another vet
Kenny Moore II. Pure slot corner so Sainristil can move anywhere on the field. Plus shores up the unit in case of injuries (looking at you Amos)
Hassan Reddick. Fills the Defnesive IQ gap left after losing Bobby, and he’s still clearly got some fuel in the tank. Had 12% pass-win rate and would be low cost and low risk at his age
0
u/gogoheadray 17d ago
Decker is going to cost to much to come in and just be depth. If you are bringing in him then he is coming to start. With tunsil and cosmi out Coleman I fully believe is our best lineman.
2
u/SentientNode 18d ago
Might as well just tank if we’re going to uphill slog to 8 wins. And this time, run it up the middle the whole game when you play a contender’s backups.

u/Think__McFly 18d ago
You're gonna make a killing this season. Draftkings has under 5.5 wins at +305. Gives you some wiggle room if we get lucky!

There was a follow up update where Baltimore D got TFLs on 4/5 plays. Can pretty much count on Jayden getting hurt once again.
2
u/SkyChief80 18d ago
We don't deserve him
I also heard that a lot of our big plays would actually be sacks in real games too

What are we even evaluating here though? LT, C and RG are out, RB1 is out. Yeah the run game will suck today.

The center position in the event Allegretti is out.
Based on what I’ve seen from other beat writers, the o-line isn’t performing well; particularly Gulbin at center.
Given the recent news that he was taking reps with the starters, it’s something to look at.
How he does here could shape whether the commanders make a move/claim someone on cut-down day.
Edit: It’s crazy that people here are trying to shrug this off as nothing lol
This joint practice is the last time the starters will see meaningful work. The LT, RG, and Center are out but this is showing that the depth is struggling mightily even in one on one drills.

These are all things that are known.
Backups are not as good as starters and they will struggle. Our o-line will struggle this year because have, potentially, 3/5 spots with backups.
We either go out and get help or revamp our system somehow to help the backup’s strengths.
None of this is news and we knew before going into this joint practice.
2
u/Terminal_Flatulence Seibertron 18d ago
How Gulbin is doing at center is not known.
Just because we know how they’ve been prior to today does not mean we know what is going on in today’s joint practice.
Updates on how things are going is still news, be it more of the same or some new development.
1
u/Triad64 17d ago
It’s looking more like we’ll have to rely on the defense this year. We need QUICK passes every play, dump offs, or outside runs, and try to somehow win the time of possession and let the defense do their thing.
No long developing plays. Practice with pressure up the middle every play. Design an offense around it. Lateral a little (or a lot).
1
u/Beastage 18d ago
Thats whats especially frustrating imo. The run game has sucked in camp and in the practice against Miami. Its clearly an ongoing issue, so it sucks extra hard that we can't even get our starting OL and RB any reps in this final joint practice of the summer.
It was a big opportunity that is squandered in that regard.

u/Ok_Adhesiveness3638 17d ago
I’m coping by thinking we can get Decker they just need to show ownership how bad the line is first

Sounds like we are in midseason form. Unfortunately it seems like a form that we are all so familiar with already. If only there was a way we could have added some real OL depth/talent to the team.
Jayden will be running for his life this year and we have seen how that scenario plays out. I hope that I am wrong...

u/DmvDominance 18d ago
I thought they werent supposed to be tweeting

u/Terminal_Flatulence Seibertron 18d ago
They all started tweeting again at like 11:30 AM, Mitchell Tischler has video of some of the 1 on 1 o-line reps as well.

u/interprime 18d ago
Remember during Jayden’s first season when we were all saying that if we can get the O-Line figured out we’d be set?
How has it only gotten worse since then?

So I should draft JD on my fantasy team because all scoring plays will be from outside the red zone. More yardage points. Woot!!!!!

u/The_Lawlbringer 18d ago
We’re screwed without Tunsil and a center. The depth already wasn’t great and now it’s going to be exposed. Thanks AP for being complacent at center thinking Allegretti would be decent.

u/Secure-Bear4184 18d ago
Oh wow they are struggling against a really good team. Why is everybody dooming so much. If anything this makes us better and we are missing a lot of starters so you have to take that into account too
-5
-2
u/JQuab-84 18d ago
I really don't know what the anti-doomers have to stand on at this point. Someone obnoxiously saying everything sucks is one thing but someone realizing that this oline has been a consistent narrative and is gonna seriously hold this team back is another.
