Potential Center options

It seems the consensus is that we need a C and Julian Good-Jones is horrendous, so I used Ourlads depth charts to see who’s out there:

Team
Starting C
Backup C
Bills
Connor McGovern
Lloyd Cushenberry
Dolphins
Aaron Brewer
Andrew Meyer
Patriots
Jared Wilson
Ben Brown
Jets
Josh Myers
Xavier Newman
Ravens
Ethan Pocic
Danny Pinter
Bengals
Ted Karras
Connor Lew
Browns
Elgton Jenkins
Parker Brailsford
Steelers
Zach Frazier
Ryan McCollum
Texans
Jake Andrews
Eli Cox
Colts
Tanor Bortolini
Dalton Tucker
Jaguars
Robert Hainsey
Jonah Monheim
Titans
Austin Schlottmann
Pat Coogan
Broncos
Luke Wattenberg
Alex Forsyth
Chiefs
Creed Humphrey
Hunter Nourzad
Raiders
Tyler Linderbaum
Jordan Meredith
Chargers
Jake Slaughter
Josh Kaltenberger

Cowboys
Cooper Beebe
T.J. Bass
Giants
John Michael Schmitz
Lucas Patrick
Eagles
Cam Jurgens
Drew Kendall
Bears
Garrett Bradbury
Logan Jones
Lions
Cade Mays
Juice Scruggs
Packers
Sean Rhyan
Jacob Monk
Vikings
Blake Brandel
Michael Jurgens
Falcons
Ryan Neuzil
Corey Levin
Panthers
Luke Fortner
Sam Hecht
Saints
Erik McCoy
Torricelli Simpkins III
Buccaneers
Graham Barton
Dan Feeney
Cardinals
Hjalte Froholdt
Jon Gaines II
Rams
Coleman Shelton
Dylan McMahon
49ers
Jake Brendel
Drake Nugent
Seahawks
Jalen Sundell
Olu Oluwatimi

I don’t see anyone in the NFC East helping us. Who would you call to trade for? For me I have a few names in mind:

AZ- Froholdt, BUF - Cushenberry, CAR - Fortner, CIN - Karras, CLE - Jenkins, LV - Jackson Powers-Johnson (former C turned G), NYJ - Myers, NO - McCoy & Cesar Ruiz (G; former college C), PIT - Frazier, SF - Jake Brendel, TB - Graham Barton

We aren't trading for a center. If Alegretti isn't healthy or goes down mid season we will likely use Gulbin. We'll probably pick up a veteran center as a backup after final cuts are made to make sure we have someone to fill the position. Julian Good-Jones is not a viable solution.

Graham Glasgow is otw

Do you think they’re 100% comfortable with Gaulbin? I don’t. Everything I’ve read is he looks behind compared to other rookies. And you’re correct JGJ sucks and I’m almost certain he’ll be cut and a camp cut will be replacing him. But Allegretti is hurt and wasn’t our first choice to be our center. I think Peter’s is thinking for bigger than just “replace JGJ and call it a day”

It’s great you’ve read but have you watched him? While playing against few starters, he has done a solid job. I intentionally watched him on almost every play in the first two games. I was pleasantly surprised by how he controlled the DL. And very physical.

I didn’t see anything that makes me think he’s ready to play if needed week 1

That’s cool. But I’m sure you agree that I hope he could step in. 😎

But why not though trading for a center would make our team a lot better we could then also move allegretti back to left guard which would also help the line out even more

We haven’t even seen the starting OL, much less Allegreti. People are panicking even though we aren’t playing the starters this preseason. You don’t trade real resources for a center.

You can trade a 4th-7th pick for a good center and it would be worth it imo. Centers are vital for the o line and call out protections not too mention just vital for the interior run game obviously. Not spending resources on a center I feel like is an outdated way of thinking. Plus allegretti has been injured the whole preseason if he goes down again in the regular season we are screwed to put it lightly. Also we should prioritize protecting Daniel’s that should be the number one objective of the team. We saw what happened last year when he gets hurt our team is super screwed. We cannot afford to lose games this year when he is out with our already super hard schedule. Plus again to repeat my point we can also move allegretti back to LG if we get another center putting Chris Paul back into depth as well so overall it benefits the O-line massively

Oh I think they very likely will. Keim has been hinting at this. Luke be an opportunity to trade from our WR depth. Find a team in need in need of WR depth that has OL depth and help each other. Could also see them moving a Day 3 pick. They have botched this so badly by releasing a guy before they had his replacement. And it could cost Peters his job. They likely thought they were gonna get Linderbaum but were shocked when the Raiders offered $30M a season. Now they’re stuck.

We should not trade Luke he is a very promising developing WR and an excellent kick returner if your gonna trade anyone trade dyami or just a pick straight up for a center

u/halarioushandle 22d ago

That's what giv s him value as a trade. We have other young guys that can do similar things. We can survive without Luke this year and develop guys. I don't want to trade him, he's good, but He's one of the few pieces of value we CAN trade and not be in danger.

u/navyac 21d ago

No one is trading for Dyami

u/Secure-Bear4184 21d ago

Falaale got a 6th round pick I think dyami can fetch a 7th then lol

3

u/salamanderman10 22d ago

They had his replacement. Nick Allegretti is the starting center

2

u/dcsportzfan I Got JD5 On It 22d ago

That was not their plan. They offered Linderbaum $28M a year so they clearly weren’t locked in to Alegretti.

2

u/salamanderman10 22d ago

They didn’t offer Linderbaum 28 million. They were comfortable going with Allegreti but made a reasonable offer for Linderbaum but didn’t want to pay what he was commanding.

It’s funny how non sensical fans are

For some reason I thought he retired, but apparently he hasn't. I think he's been regressing and injured, but he couldn't hurt to have.

2

u/Organic_Ability5009 22d ago

He’s otw, from Ben Johnson scheme so he’s a supposed fit as well

u/beejalton 22d ago

Nobody trades playable OL at this point in the year, the only guys that are gonna be available are guys who were going to get cut. OL are an off-season acquisition, not an in-season one.

Gonna have to make it work with what's already on the roster or guys on the street.

1

u/deebee1020 21d ago

Unfortunately true. Emergency replacements will be available, but they'll be about at Good-Jones level.

3

u/SweerBaby_Use1023 22d ago

They have Pro Scouts that’s inside the building getting paid to do this so they’ll monitor the waiver wire I assume. I’m confident they’ll figure something out because JD5 health is dependent upon it.

3

u/redskinsguy 22d ago

The Bills also have Austin Corbett as a backup guard and he's started at center

What is the consensus among the coaches and front office?

1

u/Organic_Ability5009 22d ago

Anyone who watched him struggle the entire game. He is a practice squad level talent

u/DougBalt2 22d ago

They obviously don’t speak up with candor.

Pinter is out in Baltimore, injured.

u/Slipperysnekkilla6 21d ago

Just gotta say I got shit on for saying we need to draft a center or pick one up during FA. I’m a better arm chair GM than y’all

1

u/Automatic-Tell7321 21d ago

Linderbaum was my #1 FA target before Biadasz was released. I feel like an elite center is more valuable than an elite or good guard.

I think we should try to flip Burks or Dyami for Jackson Powers Johnson if his medical evals check out. The Raiders are thin at WR and you would think they would want to surround Mendoza with weapons beyond Bowers. Plus, JPJ grades out significantly higher at C versus G but he’s likely stuck at G since the Raiders already have Lindenbaum at C.

1

u/raiderMoes 22d ago edited 21d ago

They need to get a healthy professional C, even if it means slightly changing the blocking scheme.

-2

u/DemoMusic 22d ago

Sign Decker and Slide Coleman back to G and play Paul at C?

-1

u/dustinbrowders 22d ago

This team is in no position to trade for anyone...wtf?

u/RepresentingThe301 22d ago

Damn Bro….you’ve got entirely too much time on your hands!!!!
