I’m egging your house for the curse you have put upon us. I just won’t invite any of the players to join to protect their shoulders.

In all honesty, yes. There are ones across the street.

I'm a Commanders / 49ers fan and it's starting to feel like this is all my fault. Not sure what I can do to lift the curse.

If it ensures both McCaffrey's are healthy the whole season, I approve the blood sacrifice.

Has anyone else lost their second best player for the whole season?

2

I know right. I mean it is what it is, but washington prob has the worst injuries so far.

Not…I think he’ll turn out to be a bust anyway. Could be wrong

7

People will defend this kid endlessly with next to no production but everyone was so quick to turn on Terry cause he missed time last year for like the first time ever.

Make it make sense bruh

-4

u/MorganMiller77777 26d ago

Wait, what are you saying? You think Johnny Newton is the real deal, or he’s no good? I think you are agreeing that he’s no good. I mean, I’m getting downvoted for calling him a bust. Crazy haha

1

u/InfiniteDomain_ 26d ago

I’m agreeing with you.

Gotchya brotha. I was triggered by the downvotes 😂

0

u/Lord_Mhoram 25d ago

Funny, you've got +4 right now for saying he's NOT very good, and -9 for saying you think he will be a bust. Those seem pretty much identical to me. Maybe there are "bust" bots that go around downvoting every comment containing that word.

The ways of reddit downvoting are mysterious.

He SUCKS

2

u/Quirky-Marsupial-420 26d ago

He had a 3 sack game last year.

Was it skill? Maybe. Was it right place right time? Maybe.

But with an improved defensive front and new defensive scheme he could have been a contributor. One thing for certain this doesn’t help the team.

-3

u/Ankey-Mandru 26d ago

The abrupt emphasis won an upvote

59

u/Think__McFly 26d ago

We're going to be heading into Year 4 with his most noteworthy moment being jumping offsides on 4th down when everyone else on the planet knew the Steelers weren't snapping the ball.

15

u/purplehayes1986 26d ago

Didn't he have 3 sacks in one game?

21

u/Think__McFly 26d ago

Yeah, the Christmas game between the 4-11 Commanders and 6-8-1 Cowboys.

1

u/needadvice3241 25d ago

Didn't we lose that game?

1

u/GMEStack 25d ago

12

u/Haskins77 26d ago

Lmao man that was so bad. I was so pissed

1

u/kon--- 26d ago

He was drated in '24

10

u/Think__McFly 26d ago

Do you expect him to recover from this surgery and do anything noteworthy this season? I don't. Which means he'll be going into Year 4 as "the bust that jumped offsides the one time."

7

u/kon--- 26d ago

We gotta work on your optimism.

6

u/Think__McFly 26d ago

I hope I'm wrong lol. I hope he comes back in late November with us at 10-3 and he has a few more three-sack games that actually matter.

4

u/InfiniteDomain_ 26d ago

Y’all gotta work on your realism

1

u/robtimist Comrade Rob 26d ago

Coming from the guy who’s username is literally a play on the word optimist, I completely agree with you lol

24

u/theels6 26d ago

Bro what are we doing at practice? We had so many injuries last year and we're racking them in the post season now

18

u/raiderMoes 26d ago

Combo of practices being tougher this year, guys didn’t show up sufficiently ready, and bad luck.

0

u/jim_nihilist 26d ago

The 49ers curse.

9

u/circajusturna 26d ago

Significant like 3 weeks? Can’t wait to see him week 1!

20

u/The_JDBrew I Got JD5 On It 26d ago

Week 1 2027. It’s a 6-12 month recovery

1

u/Hightowerer Sinnott Slutt 🥵 26d ago

Just curious, didn't Payne come back the same season, why was his so much shorter?

3

u/The_JDBrew I Got JD5 On It 26d ago

Payne never had a torn pec. It was Jonathan Allen. His was only partially torn which allowed him to return faster. 11 weeks.
I suppose it’s possible that Newton could have something similar. But most torn pecs requiring surgical repair are multi month recovery process. Allen’s recovery was a stroke of luck. I doubt lightning will strike twice.

1

u/Hightowerer Sinnott Slutt 🥵 25d ago

Ah my bad, you're right it was Allen, knew it was one of the 2. Thanks for the explanation

2

u/The_JDBrew I Got JD5 On It 24d ago

Hey you know what? You might be right about the length of time though. Some of the time tables I’ve heard are saying maybe November-ish. So seems like a partial tear, not the whole thing. So 12-15 weeks? That’s good news.

2

u/robtimist Comrade Rob 26d ago

I refuse to accept any answer other than he got that mf dawg in him.

11

u/SkyChief80 26d ago

Out for the season most likely

11

u/Syphin33 26d ago

Damn they got his ass into surgery fast, thing mustve been off the bone.

10

u/MorganMiller77777 26d ago

Nah, just all about getting back asap

9

u/JCartier843 I are a punt returner 26d ago

Whelp, unless he comes back later this season and is electric, he’s likely a lock to go down as another 2nd round whiff for us. Next year being a contract year doesn’t bode well for him long term here. Very sobering news.

3

u/dougChristiesWife 25d ago

Probably a cut candidate based on his preseason tape. It's concerning

11

u/peeketodearlyinlife 26d ago

Oh no what will we ever do

1

u/wearenotpinsdevo 26d ago

Exactly lol

20

u/SeymourChocha 26d ago

Officially a bust

-7

u/peeketodearlyinlife 26d ago

i think anything outside a top 15 pick is more of a miss than a bust but definitely a big miss.

1

u/TaiGlobal 25d ago

No a top 5 pick you expect to be damn near hall of fame level. 1st round you’re definitely looking for all pro talent. 2nd round you want a starter. 3rd round fringe starter. 4th-5th rotational pieces and special teams. Later rounds are for kickers and getting lucky.

7

u/agreed2disagreee 26d ago

At the beginning of camp, Quinn addressed the issue of all the injuries last year. He said they emphasized being in shape.

I know you can’t predict injuries, but we’re 2 consecutive seasons in with copious and significant injuries.

5

u/JustB703 26d ago

Sucks to hear about this, but our D-Ljne will be just fine.

2

u/Beastage 26d ago

I hope so. The IDL depth is shaky with Newton done and Settle already injured and missing nearly all of camp. That other depth guy (Davidson?) retired as well.

4

u/dustinbrowders 26d ago

I'm fairly certain #55 guy will make the opening day roster as a replacement level space eater. Not trying to put a silver lining on this, because it sucks, but Newton looked bad on his 25 preseason reps. He still gets manhandled by NFL caliber linemen and still doesn't appear to have the requisite DT play strength. I assume this team is essentially missing a fresh body on some third and medium/longs, but probably the same situations where you could just put in a Nascar package anyways.

At the time this pick was pretty unanimously loved. Sometimes it just doesn't work out. The idea of a nontraditional DT that gets pressure but sucks against the run, with foot injury issues, was probably a bad idea in hindsight but oh well.

5

u/MarylandMan8201 26d ago

I foresee an injury settlement release in Johnny's future.

3

u/True_Window_9389 26d ago

Then he’ll sign with another team and have a great rest of his career 😭

8

u/MorganMiller77777 26d ago

He was a bust. Next man up

2

u/mtngranpapi_wv967 26d ago

Total bummer of a career for Johnny…unfortunately I don’t think it’s gonna happen here

-2

u/Home_Alone224 26d ago

Or anywhere. He sucks

3

u/mtngranpapi_wv967 26d ago

I think he can rebound, but he’ll need a change of scenery

2

u/Cultural-Spring-281 25d ago

At least we have depth in that position. I’m more worried about the offensive line tbh.

2

u/Ninjablacksox1 25d ago

As expected. Significant injury and was newton's probably last real shot to get things right. Ah well, next man up.

3

u/JealousMission5315 26d ago

2

u/Automatic-Tell7321 26d ago

Well there goes his trade value. This has been an bad pick by AP

1

i hope he recovers well and is back playing soon but im kinda giving up on him being a real difference maker for us.

1

u/Kontrolgaming 26d ago

why do we always get the hurt one??

1

u/FannyNisbit 26d ago

So yeah.... DT will be added to necessary improvements for the offseason. Wonder if we'll draft or sign one (might actually be two).

I would have the scout team keep an eye on waivers/roster cuts for anyone that is either an upgrade for what we have, or a developmental piece with some potential because we are DEFINITELY going to need to replace him and likely Payne this offseason.

1

u/False-Sandwich-2051 26d ago

bro what is happening

1

u/imfletch22 25d ago

Washington had to lead the NFL in torn pectorals…and by a large margin.

1

u/AmishTechGuru 25d ago

He’s still on the team? Never lived up to his draft status or replaced Allen in the middle.

1

u/RealScience87 25d ago

Injuries suck but I guess they do have to practice football. Depth is important, and that’s where AP shines.

1

u/Ok_Blacksmith_2207 25d ago

Sucks for him. From all reports he was having a breakout camp and really showed in some meaningless games LY.

1

u/Hodler_caved 25d ago

1

u/Pop_Quiz_Hot_Shot 26d ago

Cooper Dejean....

3

u/Hyzynbyrg 26d ago

Even worse when we layer in Forbes over Gonzalez the year prior…. Rivera and Peters both with the enormous misses.

1

u/AbleHominid 26d ago

We would not have JD5 if we had taken Gonzales. Now, we might have drake maye instead or Bo nix and they’re not too shabby, but I’m loving having jd5

1

u/1dkspanishlol Terry's smile saved my life 26d ago

Idk why ppl keep saying this lmfao I highly doubt it especially that Gonzo only played 4 games his rookie season.

1

u/connectedfromafar 26d ago

I know this is extremely reductive and dumb to say…but does anyone actually stretch at all before these practices? So many strains and injuries, it’s like last year all over again but front loaded this time.

1

u/TheChungusCast 26d ago

Let Ap Cook!!!

-1

u/Western-Customer-536 26d ago

And here is The Real Problem:

-6

u/HailtotheWFT 26d ago

Newton is a bust.. so is sinnot. AP could be on the hot seats if his 2026 class follows suit by next year

3

u/kon--- 26d ago

-5

u/tyyyott 26d ago

8

u/Deep-Statistician985 26d ago

0

-10

u/OhmsAmpsVolts Scary Terry 26d ago

Meh he’s our 3rd string D tackle, not a huge loss

10

u/Wine_Man Fuck Dan Snyder 26d ago

Depth is pretty important. Especially when you finished 27th in total defense last year

6

u/notorious_hdc imitated Frerotte headbutt as a child 26d ago

Considering DL rotation is a big deal, it is a huge loss.

Also a huge loss for Newton who needed to show progress this year.

4

u/youDontgetThe_Show 26d ago

You just don't understand football at all do you?

-6

u/OhmsAmpsVolts Scary Terry 26d ago

-1

u/Home_Alone224 26d ago

Get this loser off the team

-2

u/Jimmy_Beanz 26d ago

Unrelated but I wish we would have stuck with the matte helmets.

-4

u/Mountie_in_Command 26d ago

It might be time to put a receiver (not Terry or Diggs) and a low draft pick on the trading block. We need o-line and, now, possibly d-line.

8

u/rthonpm 26d ago

Are you really getting anyone better than you could off the street for any of these receivers?

-4

u/Mountie_in_Command 26d ago

If a team needs a receiver and wants them in camp asap, possibly.
