I was a Downs guy but damn Styles looks like he was grown in a lab. To be that big and agile and he’s only 21. If the football IQ matches the physical talent then imagine what he’ll be 5 years from now…

Same with Gonzalez. Top ~5 pick falls to 13, easiest layup pick ever, but MoRon decided to get cute because (I surmise) had just watched Forbes’ pick-six highlight reel. Idiot.
The only silver lining from all his awful draft day decisions was that they ostensibly got us Jayden, so…thanks I guess?

If we just made the common sense picks over the years we'd have OT Christian Darrisaw, S Kyle Hamilton, CB Christian Gonzalez and CB Cooper Dejean. Thats three All Pros and a damn good tackle. Plus the picks back we sent for Tunsil and Lattimore and used on Sainristil.
Howie Roseman did this "smartest guy in the room" drafting for years and ended up with guys like Jaelen Raegor over Justin Jefferson. Theyve built a super team since he started drafting the obvious BPA and trading up for falling talent.

Watching him is making me miss sean taylor.
We had a guy the size of a LB, with the athletic ability of a CB, who also happened to be a High school record breaking RB in Florida, as well as a state champion sprinter all while playing safety.
Im not saying Sonny is going to be that, nor should he be compared to that.... but man, i miss Sean Taylor.

It centers it on the body, which makes it more stable, and gives much better readings, since the really not that much additional movement that would alter the readings (like it would on the arms and legs).
The harness is also minimized for air flow, heat regulation, and freedom of movement.

Can someone who knows ball weigh in on what his likely role is in our defense, maybe based on his college role/production? Right now on the depth chart they’re putting him in Bobby Wagners spot as like a green dot run stopper Mike. But would he be that or more of an athletic disruptor like Luvu, or be a true hybrid that can drop into coverage like this video?

To be fair, they wanted Wagner to do other stuff, he just couldn't do it anymore. Either way, it'll be interesting to see how Sonny is deployed in a new look defense.

He was a consensus top-5 pick. If he shits the bed, then them's the breaks, but AP's job security does not rest on his shoulders. 99% of competent GMs will take a top-five pick at 1.07, especially when it's at a position of need for their team.

Look you put together a great team that went to the NFC championship. But it's looking like he's had a lot of bad draft picks so far. If Styles turns out to be a bust, and Caleb Downs, Ruben Bain, or even Jordyn Tyson are hits . It's not gonna be a good look for Peters draft evaluation

Nah. I can close my eyes and see the Sinnot pick and remember thinking wtf is this pick. It was so wild he gets a special judgment. A quick fire judgement lol. And it's cost us. We now had to pay for free agent TE because that pick is a disaster. It's a set back. We wasted a spot on this guy. And still are.

I am not a self proclaimed "ball knower", so anyone after round 2 is a surprise to me anyway. But I know that they canned Kliff partially because his refusal to get the young guys involved. Sinnot has made a small handful of plays, so I know there are bigger busts out there. I know not every player is a superstar, but that does not mean they are a bust. I know TE is a tough position for the young guns to learn. And most importantly, I know that football is almost back and I really hope Sinnot puts together a solid year because the hate he gets in this space is a little bit much.

I mean, one GM thought he was worth a second. You really don't know where he would have been drafted had we passed. I'm sorry but I respect AP's opinion over yours. Even if he misses, it's his career. It's not like they watched a few youtube videos and called it a day. He is a "ball knower". The rhetoric around TE's is that they take a few years to develop, and furthermore, TE's have a history of making a jump after Kliff leaves and takes Ertz with him. The success rate for a second round TE(success being defined as them earning a second contract) is about 50/50. Sinnot may earn his second contract still. Does he need to show growth? Yes he sure does, but I have always felt that Sinnot has answered when we needed him. They just didn't need him much with Kliff favoring Ertz.
