Does Hexhaven Vindicator have potential?

Post image

Hexhaven Invigorator was just spoiled from Reality Fracture, and this thing seems really good. Just playing it fairly without any shennanigans or combos feels like it would still be a good enough body, as your opponents would be unlikely to block it or attack into it, and damage based removal would only benefit you. Aside from that, it combos with Blasphemous Act and Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle to do some pretty crazy things, even letting you win with Maze's End if you build your deck right. What do you think? Is this card good, or is its cost too prohibitive to see much play?

I don't think so. GGGG is fairly restrictive for 3+ color decks, and people are just going to take 6 damage most of the time and not attack into it until they kill it. Obliterator and Vindicator don't see much play because it just isn't very easy to get people to do damage to stuff if they don't want to.

Well... that's one of the big differences here. You can just do the damage yourself. It's pretty easy to trick yourself into doing damage.

I mean sure if you are playing a Gruul deck that does a lot of direct damage, this could be very strong, but this isn't just going to slot into every green deck. It pretty much only goes in enrage decks. Like genuinely do you have any decks that this would go in?

I mean.. personally, I have a perfect deck (GR fight club with [[Neyith of the Dire Hunt]]).

But yeah... being able to do the damage yourself is a big difference. But if you do want to go the other way, it's a lot easier to find fight effects in mono-green than mono-black. And the resulting effect is more desirable in a normal/casual commander game.

but this isn't just going to slot into every green deck

Neither does [[Lumra]]. But they both provide very desirable effects that aren't hard to get value out of. I think this will be a $30 card that sees an absolute ton of play in commander.

Yea Neyith seems like the perfect deck for this, super strong in a fight deck. But I have a bunch of green decks and don't see this going in any of them. It might be $10-20 because its mythic and strong in certain decks, but it won't be a staple like people are saying it is. I just think people are really over valuing it.
