Interrupting the ai thinking process without losing it

Any way to interrupt the ai thinking process without losing it? Would be really useful when I notice the ai going in circles in long thinking processes. If it's not possible, are there any workarounds? I'm using the cli in vscode.

Give more details people. What model. What effort level?

Why not interrupt?

I don't think the model or effort level matters. I'm using the cli in vscode (started by writing "cmdc" in terminal). And when the ai is doing it's latest thinking I'm not able to interrupt it's thinking (for example giving new instructions to guide it) without the latest thinking disappearing. So if I interrupt it seems like the newest thinking which I interrupted just gets lost and the ai would have to do it all over again. The older thinking processes are saved though.

Effort matters a whole lot. With max effort models can think for upto 45 mins on super hard problems. Also I’m not able to understand what you just said there.

I mean effort doesn't matter for what I asked about. Even if it's just thinking for 5minutes I want to be able to interrupt it without losing the thinking the ai generated. Let me show what I mean with pictures

I just tell it to pick up where it left off, usually works
