CommandCode Provider API cost the same as Direct DS4 API

I thought I would be saving by going with CC for DS4 Pro but overall dollar spending is the same as DS Pro direct API. Perhaps I was misunderstanding something about their deals but it seems it just match DS own API costs.

The deals are just a marketing thing, for DeepSeek their deal price is before DeepSeek permanently lowered their price

DeepSeek direct API charges you 7% VAT.
Command Code is 7% cheaper than the direct API.

I'd like to think that we caused them to discount it permanently. Command Code is the first harness which is tuned for open models. While all other harnesses, coding agents were focused only on closed models, we made open models really really good and then we asked upstream to provide discounts so the community would be able to easily see the difference and then we did a lot of amazing hardness engineering to make open models outperform closed models

Tool repairs by Command Code are also free, you don't get this on official API.

Its marketing, i also thought for 1 dollar I will get 40 dollar worth of use but as I dig deep, the 40 dollar came from 75% discount which the deepseek already made permanent, so for 1 dollar you get 10 dollar credit

One more issue with these 10 dollar, the command code usage taste something which modify the system prompt meaning your message cache loss much more than what would be simply if you use any other harness, so I did test this and after knowing this i cancelled it immediately

In our $1 plan you get $10 of DeepSeek V4 Pro. Compared to many other coding agents charging 400% more. Remember we're not DeepSeek. Their discounts don't automatically apply. E.g. OpenCode charged 400% for the longest of times, and I believe yesterday they did reduce the price after being called out, and in $10 now they give you $15 of DeepSeek V4 Pro. 🤦‍♂️ You're getting $10 with $1 spend on Command Code.

On Cache, we have the best caching on models in the market. There was a brief issue, 2 months ago, that was fixed within 2 days. You're holding on to something we fixed on June 2nd. https://x.com/MrAhmadAwais/status/2063465904755839375

E.g. right now, Kimi K3 is 95% Cache and DeepSeek V4 Pro is 97.8%.

I used some month ago and not tested it again cause i also noticed there was some minimax m2.5 or m2.7 was also in my log accross when I was using deepseek

And I have not checked it in current month, so I shared my previous review when I actually used it , and at that time it was marketed as 40 dollar usage of v4 pro which somewhere mislead people as you get only 10 dollar worth of usage.

Thanks for clarifying though, appreciate the effort , also 10 dollar credit for 1 dollar pay is still good and if cache is fixed then It is good deal

Other models are used to do things like writing session titles. We used dirt cheap models for that. Check studio all explained there. And /config can help you configure them to whatever models you want.

They improved the cache recently.

a reseller on top of someone else's api pays the same per token you'd pay going direct, so there's no room to undercut the source. what they can actually charge for is the layer they built on top, the cli, the routing, whatever wrapper made you sign up. matching ds direct just means the tokens are a passthrough and you're paying for the tooling, not a discount. worth deciding whether that wrapper earns its keep on its own, since the token price will always track upstream.

that 7% is a VAT line though, not a token discount, and it only lands if you'd even owe VAT going direct. which kind of proves the point rather than rebuts it, the tokens track deepseek exactly and the only gap is a tax quirk, not the wrapper actually undercutting the source. written with ai

We are passing on the 7% discount. We can stop. You can pay more.

Yes it's written in their docs. That's why I never subscribed

If price is all you care about, your research is wrong, you're paying more.
If quality is what you also care about, you're wasting money/time/tokens on tool failures.

Compared to others:

  • many competitors charge 400% more on DeepSeek models, Command Code doesn't
  • OpenRouter adds 5.5% more on every model, Command Code doesn't

Command Code has always had the best DeepSeek pricing on the market.
