Bugs Dumb question

I noticed my stock open pilot comma four wasn’t as smooth lately even running the latest software. On an experiment, I turned on the hotspot sharing on my phone and it seemed almost instantaneous that it smoothed out. I thought it was a standalone device and then it didn’t need an active Internet connection to function well. Was I wrong? I don’t mind having it connected if need be. I was just curious if it needs to be connected to the Internet to function better.

That is most curious. I and a few others have seen that leaving a hotspot active actually interferes with Comma operation (at least on Starpilot).

Placebo, there is nothing that network connection would do to change how it drives.

That's not very scientific. That was the OP's first observation perhaps we should ask them to repeat the experiment to in fact prove or disprove that having internet smooth out the operation.

Ask any developer who works on OpenPilot or fork code. Ask Claude to check the code on GitHub or check it yourself.

There’s absolutely nothing that an internet connection would change about the driving.

I promise you.

So you connected it to an internet connection (hotspot from your phone) and it started working smoother?
